This role will focus on providing actionable insights and supporting the development of evaluation frameworks, data collection tools, and analytical approaches that drive organizational learning. The Lead Analyst: Evaluation will work closely with NCEE colleagues, educators in the field, and other stakeholders to ensure that evaluation findings are relevant, accessible, and impactful. This position will report to the Director of Evaluation. Qualifications - Master’s degree in education, psychology, social sciences, public policy, or a related field. - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in evaluation, research, or data analysis, preferably in an education or nonprofit setting. Requirements - Strong understanding of research and evaluation methods, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches. - Experience in designing data collection tools, conducting data analysis, and reporting findings. - Proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or Stata) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is highly desirable. - Ability to interpret data and communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and to build effective partnerships with external stakeholders. Role Description The National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) is seeking a curious, creative, and capable Policy Analyst to join its Policy team. Detail-oriented and evidence-based? We want to hear from you. The Policy Analyst plays a key role within and across this framework. Their policy summaries, briefs, and scans surface concrete options for policymakers to consider, and shape the direction of design recommendations. The logistical support they contribute to convenings help create professional learning experiences for policymakers and practitioners that deliver real change in schools. Primary Responsibilities - Conducting policy analysis via desk research, legislative and regulatory scans, and informant interviews to identify findings and surface national, state, and local trends. - Supporting senior staff in preparing talking points, PowerPoints, and background materials for major speaking engagements. - Preparing written summaries of major policy reports and legislation of interest, as well as memos and technical notes covering various policy areas. - Contributing to policy papers, briefs, toolkits, and other resources translating policy lessons for different audiences. - Assisting with the design and organization of major policy convenings. - Contributing to project management and ensuring that numerous complex, time-sensitive projects are completed on time and to the highest standard of quality. Qualifications - 2+ years experience in education and/or workforce development (a combination of experience in the nonprofit sector, government, advocacy, and/or teaching is acceptable). - Master’s degree in Public Policy, Education, or a related field strongly preferred. - Passion for working in education policy and commitment to NCEE’s mission and values. - A collaborative, gracious, and kind team player with a positive growth-oriented and solution-oriented mindset. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to speak to major education and workforce development policy issues. - Strong attention to detail and genuine curiosity. - Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills. - Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Asana), labor market datasets (e.g., Lightcast) and/or policy analysis databases (e.g., Quorum) a plus. - Willingness to travel occasionally (10% or less). Role Description The National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) is seeking a thoughtful, dynamic, and creative Research Analyst to join its Research and Evaluation team. The successful candidate will contribute equally to two main areas of work: - NCEE Programmatic Benchmarking Cycle - A key set of projects in the broader NCEE research agenda (examples include Top Performers/Rapid Risers, our AI Guidelines scan, and more). NCEE Programmatic Benchmarking entails extensive, multi-modal research on how top performing education systems design, implement, and align load-bearing components such as curriculum, teacher preparation, standards, and the like. This work is conducted in two-year benchmarking cycles. Currently, NCEE is in the midst of a cycle focused on assessment and accountability systems that will be wrapped up in mid-2027. The role will extend beyond the current cycle. Primary Responsibilities - Conduct literature reviews related to key thematic areas (e.g., assessment and accountability systems and other education system components studied in future benchmarking cycles). - Support comparative analysis of top-performing international education systems, developing and updating profiles of Top Performers, Rapid Risers, or others, as needed. - Design and conduct interviews and site visits with international and domestic experts, policymakers, and practitioners. - Conduct qualitative research, including coding and synthesis of interview and document data. - Assist with data analysis and interpretation. - Draft sections of research reports, analytic memos, and background papers. - Contribute to research planning, project tracking, and quality assurance. - Exercise sound professional judgment and diplomacy in external interactions. - Manage independent research tasks while collaborating closely with team members. Qualifications - Minimum 4+ years of experience in international comparative education research; experience in a policy-oriented context would be an advantage. Candidates with more extensive experience are also encouraged to apply. - Master’s degree or higher in education, psychology, economics, social sciences, or a similar discipline required. - Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills; experience with tools such as Dedoose, R or other statistical software is an advantage. - Strong analytical and writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret data and communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences. - Experience with the organisation of meetings, workshops and conferences an asset. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and to build effective partnerships with external stakeholders. - A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Alignment with NCEE’s mission and values.
