GSCC is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation. We're looking for an innovative and experienced Poland Desk Associate, Strategic Communications and Campaigns. The right candidate will have a unique combination of skills and want to play a major role in tackling climate change and galvanising action, helping to speed up the energy transition in Poland, Europe, and beyond. Overall we are a 25 person Europe wide team of campaigners, media and digital experts who use strategic communications to get climate action to the top of the political agenda. GSCC team members devise and deliver campaigns, and give strategic advice, communications and outreach support to partners. We work as part of a global network of communications experts to enhance the public debate on climate change and its solutions on a broader level. The work will involve designing and implementing digital campaigns and maintaining trusted relationships with key journalists and stakeholders in Poland. We're looking for a Senior Steel Analyst with research, analysis and campaigning skills to help us decarbonise the steel industry. Our ideal candidate has an excellent campaigning instinct and the ability to use research, analysis and investigative findings to effect change in close collaboration with partners and allies. You will develop your own original research, work collaboratively to develop investigations, campaign approaches and messaging, produce materials and briefings, and become a source of intelligence and insights on steel decarbonisation and climate. You will work with a network of civil society partners, journalists and policy makers to influence key narratives and decisions on steel and climate policy. How you'll contribute The Senior Steel Analyst will work with the ARIA manager with oversight of the steel sector, the Steel Analyst and the two investigators working on steel-related topics to: - Monitor steel industry decarbonisation and the news cycle - including attending conferences, to produce insights and intelligence; - Work with the ARIA steel team to produce high quality research and analysis of the steel sector as they relate to climate change and decarbonisation; - Compile credible, concise briefings for a range of audiences working to shape debates and narratives relating to the decarbonisation of the steel sector, including its interaction with the energy sector and power sources such as coal; - Oversee written work produced by ARIA’s Steel Analyst and edit documents as required;. - Develop, maintain and collaborate closely with a network of partners, sources and contacts to share intelligence, and develop and inform strategy in this area; - Coordinate closely with coalitions of partners and allies to deliver shared objectives; - Develop, implement, review and evaluate ARIAs strategy and interventions in this area; - Contribute to the development of ARIA's broader strategy, processes and the evolution of our operating model including harnessing the potential of AI in building our research and intelligence. - Coordinate and oversee the work of a small team of analysts and investigators working on steel decarbonisation including research and investigative projects; - Line manage our Steel Analyst; Our ideal candidate has To succeed in this role, you will have all 6 of the below qualities: - Experience of running or overseeing effective campaigns aimed at changing corporate or public behaviour, or government regulation. - Experience of using research, investigations and media to effect change - Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor communications to different audiences - Strong networking skills, and experience of collaborating with partner organisations and operating in networks. - Fluent written and spoken English and the ability to produce clear, well-sourced and accurate briefings and summaries, or news articles. - Good organisational/ project management skills, including managing a small budget Nice to haves: - Experience of researching, investigating or campaigning on the steel industry, or similar industrial sectors including coal.
