The Opportunity MLT is looking for an exceptional Advancement Officer, Individual Giving who will be responsible for cultivation, stewardship, engagement, and fundraising for a portfolio of high-level stakeholders. This exciting impact role systematizes MLT’s approach to engaging stakeholders across various areas of capital, connectivity, influence and advice. The Advancement Officer - Individual Giving will be an integral part of the fundraising efforts of the Advancement team. Location: Boston or New York This position is flexible, with a preference for candidates based in Boston or New York. While we are open to remote work and geography is not the sole factor in determining Advancement Officer portfolios, proximity to key East Coast hubs will be an advantage for donor face-to-face interaction and time zone alignment. What You'll Do: - Manages a portfolio of existing and prospective donors and supporters, including both those where the Advancement Officer is the primary point of contact and those where the Advancement Officer acts as a support to another internal lead - Takes a holistic approach to engagement that strategically leverages stakeholder time, treasure, and talents in ways that both meet MLT objectives and are of value to the stakeholder - Represents MLT at donor networking opportunities to identify, cultivate, steward, and solicit donor prospects - Participates in identifying, qualifying, and cultivating a robust pipeline of prospective donors and stakeholders - Develops and executes thoughtful, tailored donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans, communications, and materials - Designs and drives customized engagement plans that align with MLT financial and other goals and deepen stakeholder involvement, enthusiasm, and long-term commitment - Listens actively to understand the stakeholder’s perspective and engages in high-touch, audience-centered communications to build meaningful and lasting relationships - Effectively and collaboratively project manages stakeholder strategies, working in partnership with cross-functional colleagues What You'll Bring: - 10+ years of professional experience with a bachelor's degree in a related field (MBA or other advanced degree a plus) - Experience identifying and engaging high net worth individuals and senior executives - Experience building, and generating revenue through, high touch, mutually beneficial relationships - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively convey complex ideas clearly - Strong ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and communication, and to actively listen and incorporate inputs from multiple stakeholders - Takes ownership and finds effective solutions with minimal direction - Comfort with CRM systems, and willingness to learn and frequently use Salesforce specifically - Proficiency with the Google suite - Strong project management skills, with experience with project management tools, such as Asana, a plus Working at MLT People-First Culture Our people-first approach is grounded in the vision of our Founder and CEO, John Rice. The Manager, Undergraduate Recruitment supports campus-based and regional outreach efforts, cultivates relationships with university stakeholders and local partners, and enhances MLT’s visibility within targeted markets through events, workshops, and community engagement. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Associate Directors, the Director of Undergraduate Recruitment & Admissions, and cross-functional partners in Events, Marketing, and Communications to drive implementation of recruitment campaigns and increase the number of qualified applicants. Success in this role looks like a detail-oriented, relationship-driven team player who can manage multiple priorities, build strong campus partnerships, and represent MLT’s mission with professionalism and energy. This role directly contributes to the growth and impact of Career Prep by helping ensure a steady pipeline of motivated students prepared to succeed in competitive career pathways. This is a remote, part-time contractor role (20 hours per week) open to candidates located within MLT’s core hiring hubs: DMV (DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia) and New York / New Jersey. What will you be engaged in day-to-day? - Execute targeted campus recruitment strategies to attract qualified undergraduate applicants to the Career Prep program. - Build and maintain relationships with university faculty, student organizations, and community-based partners to enhance MLT’s visibility and engagement on campus. - Represent MLT at campus events, info sessions, professional development workshops, and in-class presentations to promote Career Prep and related offerings. - Coordinate with Recruiting Captains, MLT alumni, and internal staff to drive peer-to-peer outreach and support tailored engagement strategies. - Partner with the Events, Marketing, and Communications teams to plan and promote high-impact recruitment events and develop region-specific outreach materials. - Maintain regular on-campus presence (as permitted), including office hours, tabling, and other visibility-building activities. - Track outreach activity and contribute to recruitment reporting and dashboards to assess campaign effectiveness and support data-informed decision-making. - Collaborate with the Ascend and College Programs teams to support pipeline-building workshops and College & Career Readiness initiatives at high schools and local nonprofits. - Performing other duties as assigned. What qualifications would help you succeed in this role? - Bachelor’s degree required - Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in undergraduate recruitment, admissions, student affairs, or related outreach roles. - Experience building relationships with university stakeholders, student organizations, and/or community-based partners. - Familiarity with recruitment and outreach tools such as LinkedIn, Handshake, and email campaign platforms; experience with CRM or applicant tracking systems is a plus. - Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines. - Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment. - Demonstrated interest in equity, college access, and expanding opportunities for underrepresented students. As the Advancement Associate on the Advancement Team, you will play a critical role in driving MLT’s fundraising and engagement efforts. MLT is looking for an exceptional team member who will support both the Advancement Department and the broader organization through existing and prospective donor outreach, moves management, and other donor-facing activities. You will also help strengthen the operational backbone of the team by maintaining clean, accurate data and systems that power our fundraising work. In this highly collaborative role, you will work closely with Advancement teammates, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners across MLT. Success in this role looks like someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive, someone who ensures no donor touchpoint or data entry falls through the cracks. You will help ensure our team is equipped to engage donors with excellence, directly supporting MLT’s ability to scale impact and advance its mission. What will you be engaged in day-to-day? Conducting prospect and donor research to support tailored engagement materials, donor profiles, and philanthropic briefings. Preparing and coordinating donor-facing materials, such as presentations, pledge letters, and personalized stewardship deliverables. Ensuring accurate and timely data management in Salesforce, including updates to donor profiles, opportunities, payment records, and documentation. Supporting annual giving efforts by managing timely acknowledgments and donor stewardship communications. Assisting the Finance team with audit support, including invoicing, monthly reconciliation, and past-due payment tracking. Coordinating Advancement’s internal event invitation process and supporting cross-functional collaboration for MLT program events and team meetings. Maintaining and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for gift processing, quality assurance, and data operations. Supporting charity rating submissions and maintaining third-party records to strengthen MLT’s philanthropic profile. Performing other duties as assigned.
