Role Description - Draft and prepare legal documents including petitions, pleadings, motions, discovery responses and production, affidavits, subpoenas, and pre-trial and trial documents. - E-file all court documents in state and federal court. - Communicate with clients, court clerks, court coordinators, opposing counsel and support staff, court reporters, medical providers, and expert witnesses. - Coordinate depositions and mediation. - Prepare trial binders and exhibits. - Perform administrative duties, which include: - Calendaring all case deadlines, hearings, and trials. - Obtaining medical bills and records by affidavit and/or DWQ. - Scheduling depositions, mediations, and client meetings. - Organizing and maintaining digital case files. - Conduct factual investigations including gathering and organizing relevant information from a variety of sources. - Assist with case settlements, which includes: - Drafting settlement tables. - Contacting medical providers and subrogation companies to negotiate reductions of medical bills and subrogation liens. - Other tasks as requested by the attorneys. Qualifications - Minimum 2 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal, personal injury experience preferred. - Proficient knowledge of the litigation process including the effective use of medical records and bills to support damages, motions, discovery, evidence, court rules, and legal procedures and practices according to the TRCP. - Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision. - Professional and pleasant demeanor. - Outstanding writing and communication skills. - Ability and willingness to work with others as a team.
