Role Description Lakeland University, a liberal arts institution, seeks qualified adjunct instructors to teach Online undergraduate Education courses in Reading beginning in the fall, 2026 term. - EDU 382 Reading Teaching Techniques - 3 semester credits - The interactive nature of reading and reading instruction, developmental stages of reading, reading strategies, and effective instructional technologies, including phonics are covered. - Students learn to design, implement, and evaluate effective reading programs to meet a wide range of student needs for early childhood, elementary, and middle school students. - Participants are expected to apply theory and research to classroom practice through a clinical experience in reading with a one-on-one tutoring experience of at least five (5) hours. Pre-requisite: EDU 100 - Introduction to Education and admission to the Education Program. - EDU 382L Reading Teaching Techniques Lab - 1 semester credit - Students seeking certification in Elementary and Middle School (K-9) are required to pass the Foundations of Reading Test in order to be endorsed for licensure. - This course will review topics and concepts specifically related to the test and will also discuss test taking strategies. Location: Online Only Term Dates: August 24 - November 19 Schedule: - EDU 382 is online (asynchronous) with no assigned live class time. - EDU 382 Lab is online in a Face-to-Face LIVE format scheduled Monday evenings from 6:00 pm - 7:10 pm each week. (Central Time) Qualifications - Master's degree in education. - License in reading education. - Minimum of 3 years teaching experience. Requirements - Teach undergraduate courses in education. - Work with full-time faculty and deans to understand and employ activities that meet course learning objectives. - Administer and/or develop coursework (assignments, projects, in-class learning activities, exams) that meets and assesses course learning objectives. - Respond in a timely manner to calls or emails from students, colleagues, or supervisors. - Use university technology as directed. Role Description The Instructional Technologist plays a key role in supporting faculty in the use of the instructional technologies available at Lakeland University and providing technical support for the university's learning management program, Blackboard. The Instructional Technologist will assist in the implementation of the department's vision to aid the institution in providing quality instruction across all modalities through a systemic process of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, including assisting with design and training of faculty and staff. Essential Duties - Assist with researching, recommending, and implementing new instructional technologies, including coordinating, conducting and evaluating pilots of technologies, developing assessment and evaluation instruments, and preparing release plans for new tools and features. - Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to provide training, support, and guidance on the use of the learning management system, other learning technologies, and application of the university's instructional policies and standards through one-on-one consultations, training sessions and the creation of multimedia educational resources, custom documentation and learning objects. - Ensure accessibility of technology-based instructional materials. - Support the identification, measurement, and maintenance of key performance indicators for learning technology solutions and their effectiveness. - Provide technical support and management of related instructional technologies. - Coordinate with vendors and/or the Technology Services department to maintain architectural design or software system, optimal efficiency of system implementation, identification of issues, patches, fixes, and resolution of issues. - Maintain security and confidentiality of Lakeland University information and data. - Document internal processes, policies, and procedures as required. - Participate in department meetings, campus committees, professional workshops and conferences. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, education, computer science or related field. Master's preferred. - Experience teaching and/or training, preferably in an academic environment. - Customer service or technical administration experience preferably providing LMS or other instructional technology support in an academic environment. - Demonstrated commitment to excellence in service. - Effective oral, written, interpersonal and collaborative communication skills. - Ability to translate complex technical information into usable, easy-to-follow instructions. - Knowledge and experience with Windows and Mac operating systems, multiple browsers, Google and Microsoft applications and skills. - Project/program management experience. - Familiarity with productivity software applications and web production skills including proficiency in authoring software (e.g., Camtasia, Canva, etc.).
