Role Description We’re looking for a Procurement & Legal Lead to help strengthen and mature our procurement, contracting and legal operations. Reporting into the Director of Operations, and leading a team of one, this is a highly cross-functional role suited to someone who enjoys balancing commercial pragmatism with governance, legal awareness and operational enablement. You’ll partner closely with leadership, Finance, People, delivery teams, and external advisors to ensure Intersect can move effectively while managing risk responsibly. About This Role As part of Intersect’s Technical Operations team, you’ll own the uptime, reliability, and real-time performance of reciprocating gas engine systems powering mission-critical data center operations. You’ll help ensure these systems respond seamlessly to dynamic load demands—protecting facilities from disruption and enabling consistent, high-performance energy delivery. This role serves as the operational authority on gas engine systems, combining advanced diagnostics, telemetry, and hands-on expertise to prevent failures before they occur. Success is measured by maximizing uptime, improving MTBF, and ensuring consistent load-following capability under all operating conditions. This role is planned to start between June 20 and July 4, 2026, with an Operational Readiness & Commissioning Phase of 4–6 weeks to reach full productivity by August 1, 2026. Team Overview This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect’s mission to accelerate the clean energy transition by owning the performance and reliability of live energy infrastructure. The Technical Operations team is responsible for ensuring mission-critical systems operate without interruption—partnering across development, engineering, and asset management to bring projects online and then protecting uptime over the life of the asset. What You’ll Do Drive Engine Performance and Reliability - Own and improve uptime, MTBF, and overall system availability across deployed assets - Lead technical oversight of reciprocating gas engine systems in mission-critical data center environments - Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues to maintain continuous, high-reliability operations - Optimize transient load response and block-loading capabilities to meet Tier III/IV requirements Advance Data-Driven Optimization - Use real-time operational data to make rapid decisions during load events and ensure alignment with facility demand - Analyze system performance to identify inefficiencies and proactively prevent failures - Develop and manage telemetry dashboards to monitor combustion stability and oil health in real time - Implement predictive maintenance and condition-based monitoring strategies to shift from reactive to proactive operations Ensure Operational Readiness and Risk Elimination - Serve as the operational authority during Stage-Gate reviews, ensuring systems meet reliability and uptime standards before entering service - Partner with engineering teams to eliminate single points of failure across Balance of Plant systems - Validate engine systems, controls, SCADA integration, and backup power performance for operational readiness Strengthen Industry and Technical Leadership - Collaborate with OEMs, service providers, and operators to improve system performance and maintenance practices - Leverage industry relationships to stay ahead of emerging technologies and operational best practices What You’ll Bring - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field - 7–10 years of experience working with reciprocating gas engines in power generation, oil & gas, or mission-critical environments such as data centers - Deep expertise with engine platforms such as CAT, Waukesha, or Jenbacher - Strong understanding of engine controls, SCADA systems, and monitoring platforms - Experience with predictive maintenance, condition-based monitoring, and reliability engineering methodologies - Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize large-scale gas engine systems in high-uptime environments - Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical system interactions, particularly in load-following applications - Experience operating in Tier III/IV or other mission-critical environments with strict uptime requirements - Familiarity with emissions control systems and regulatory compliance considerations - Ability to interpret operational data and translate insights into measurable performance improvements - Ability to communicate complex thermodynamic and mechanical issues as clear operational risks and decisions - Established relationships with OEMs, service providers, and operators within gas engine or distributed energy ecosystems - Deep understanding of power generation strategies, including redundancy and uptime requirements in data center or industrial environments - Familiarity with fuel variability challenges, methane number impacts, and evolving fuel strategies such as hydrogen blending - A hands-on, analytical approach that will help you solve complex technical challenges in fast-paced environments - Composure and resilience when managing critical infrastructure issues or system failures - A commitment to technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned with Intersect’s values Total Rewards At Intersect, we care about your well-being, growth, and balance. About This Role Intersect is building the integrated energy infrastructure that the future demands, and this role sits at the center of that mission. As we scale our fleet of islanded gas-fired generation assets, real-time fuel management, balancing precision, and hedging discipline will become mission-critical. Reporting to the Head of Origination, Trading, and Market Analytics, the Lead Gas Trader will build and lead Intersect’s gas trading, physical scheduling, and balancing platform from the ground up. This role will sit at the center of our commercial operations, ensuring reliable fuel supply, managing daily burn volatility, and constructing a robust financial and physical risk management framework. This role will develop and execute a gas hedging and management strategy while coordinating with origination on long-term and short-term gas purchases and sales. Unlike traditional utility environments, our assets operate in dynamic, high-volatility settings with significant variability in expected daily burns. Managing swing risk, pipeline constraints, imbalance exposure, and basis volatility will be essential to protecting margin and ensuring operational reliability. This is a builder role: strategy, infrastructure, team, execution. Team Overview The Origination & Trading team is responsible for Intersect’s revenue generation via long term contracting done on the Origination side and market optimization & hedging done on the Trading side of the team. As our gas exposure grows alongside our islanded generation fleet, we are launching a dedicated in-house gas trading and scheduling function. The Lead Gas Trader will design and execute this capability, managing both: - Financial gas hedging strategy; - And, physical scheduling, balancing, and transport optimization This function will directly support asset operations, power trading, and origination, ensuring fuel reliability while managing extreme price volatility and structural basis risk. What You’ll Do Build and Lead the Gas Platform - Stand up and lead Intersect’s gas trading, scheduling, and balancing team. - Design scalable processes, controls, and infrastructure for physical and financial gas management. - Develop tools and systems to manage volatility in daily burn profiles across islanded gas engines. Manage Physical Gas & Balancing Risk - Oversee daily and intraday gas scheduling across interstate and intrastate pipelines. - Manage imbalance exposure, penalty risk, and operational constraints. - Optimize transport, storage, and park-and-loan arrangements. - Develop and execute strategies for swing management under highly variable load conditions. - Ensure fuel reliability during extreme weather and price events. Execute Financial Hedging Strategy - Design and implement a comprehensive gas hedging program covering: - Henry Hub exposure - Locational basis risk - Swing gas exposure - Seasonal and structural spreads - Actively manage NYMEX futures and options, basis swaps, swing swaps, and related products. - Coordinate closely with Risk to define risk limits, stress scenarios, and liquidity planning. Cross-Commodity Optimization - Partner with Power Trading to optimize spark spreads and cross-commodity hedges (e.g., HRCOs, structured spark products). - Collaborate with Market Analytics to develop stochastic tools for burn forecasting, basis modeling, and volatility analysis. - Support origination on long-term fuel supply agreements and structured gas transactions. What You’ll Bring Deep Physical & Financial Gas Expertise - Extensive experience trading and scheduling natural gas in volatile markets with close ties to power trading. - Proven expertise in NYMEX futures & options, locational basis swaps, swing swaps, GDD/IFERC swaps. - Strong experience managing basis and transport risk in Midcon/Waha (or similar volatile regions). - Direct experience scheduling gas and managing physical/cash positions, storage, transport, LPS, and OBS contracts. - Demonstrated success managing swing risk and imbalance exposure under high variability. Operational Precision Under Volatility - Experience supporting thermal generation or high-variability burn assets. - Strong understanding of pipeline constraints, penalties, nomination cycles, and operational risk. - Ability to manage liquidity and margin exposure during sustained price spikes. Builder & Leader - Experience standing up a new desk, platform, or function. - Hands-on leadership capability: hiring and managing traders and schedulers. - Comfort operating without off-the-shelf systems; ability to design scalable internal processes. About This Role As part of Intersect’s Asset Management team, you’ll build and lead a centralized land management function that ensures long-term value, compliance, and operational alignment across a growing portfolio of land lease agreements and real property interests. This role carries accountability for stewarding landowner relationships and commercial obligations after contract execution, bridging development and operations with a consistent, portfolio-wide approach. You’ll work closely with Development, Community Engagement, Construction, Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure land agreements remain executable, compliant, and optimized for performance. As an early leader in shaping this capability, you’ll define the operating model, implement scalable processes and systems, and establish the foundation for managing land as a strategic asset across the portfolio. Team Overview Asset Management is responsible for the commercial management of Intersect’s datacenter energy infrastructure projects. The team serves as the owner-side integrator, translating commercial requirements into a scalable operating model that maximizes asset performance, reliability, and long-term value. What You’ll Do - Project Learning & Team Participation: - Join project discussions with engineers and cross-functional teams to build real-world experience. - Identify potential project issues and suggest possible solutions with guidance from senior team members. - Research new technologies and approaches related to large-scale energy infrastructure. - Project Support & Risk Awareness: - Support engineering team members across early-stage development through project execution. - Review project schedules and budgets with senior staff to help keep projects on track. - Help identify design, budget, or schedule risks and flag potential fatal flaws early. - Site Design & Coordination: - Assist with managing site constraint maps, layouts, and civil designs from early-stage siting through construction notice to proceed. - Coordinate with external surveyors and engineering consultants to track deliverables and updates. - Help track development risks related to buildable land area and permitting requirements. - AI Tools, Documentation & Process Improvement: - Support the development of AI tools that improve engineering analysis and calculations. - Contribute to organizing and improving design review workflows and technical documentation. - Assist with maintaining technical specifications, contractor exhibits, and vendor information. Qualifications - Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related field) with strong academic standing. - Internship, co-op, design team, or academic project experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, or energy development. - Working knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS and Google Workspace applications. - Foundational understanding of grading, drainage, hydraulics/hydrology, geotechnical engineering, or structural analysis principles. - Interest in utility-scale solar, wind, energy storage, or other large-scale infrastructure systems. - Analytical mindset with curiosity about automation and AI-enabled engineering tools. - Eligibility to work in the United States or Canada (visa sponsorship not available). - Thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and remote-forward environment. - Collaborative, detail-oriented, and proactive work style that will help you succeed on multidisciplinary project teams. - Demonstrated alignment with Intersect’s values of Equity, Humility, Authenticity, Long-Run Value, and People Come First.
