Role Overview We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will be a key contributor to the evolution of our core platform, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the robust, scalable, and secure backend systems that power our life-changing product. This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of critical features, from architectural design to implementation, ensuring our services are built for performance, reliability, and compliance within a regulated medical device environment. You will work within a microservices architecture, leveraging your expertise in Java, Spring, and AWS to build solutions that handle complex data processing, real-time communication, and seamless integration across our ecosystem. Role Overview You own and continuously improve the systems, integrations, and automations that power Hilo's entire organization. You connect tools, eliminate manual work, and ensure data flows reliably across every function — from commercial and customer-facing teams to operations, finance, and beyond. You are technically hands-on: you build and maintain integrations yourself, and act as the bridge between business needs and technical implementation. Your key output is a connected, efficient, and well-documented tech stack that scales with the company. Core Responsibilities Systems & Automation Strategy - Own our collaboration & productivity tools as well as relevant business systems and define a clear roadmap for integrations and automations across all functions. - Proactively identify manual workflows, application and workflow silos, and system gaps — and eliminate them through automation and smart integrations. - Ensure every team has the tools and automated workflows they need to operate efficiently, without unnecessary manual overhead. - Co-define ROI metrics with stakeholders for every initiative and trace outcomes to ensure measurable impact. Integration & Automation Development - Design, build, and maintain integrations across Hilo's platforms using tools such as Make, Zapier, n8n, or custom API connections. - Automate data flows between systems to ensure information passes seamlessly between them. - Own the technical implementation of new key tools and system improvements end-to-end — from scoping to deployment, maintenance, and documentation. Data Integrity & Operational Reliability - Monitor integrations and automations for errors, and proactively maintain and improve them over time. - Build and maintain clear technical and process documentation for all integrations, automations, and workflows.

• Own the full customer journey — from awareness to conversion, retention, and advocacy. • Lead integrated growth across SEO, Paid Search, Paid Social, PR, CRM, and Affiliate channels. • Combine performance, brand, and conversion optimization into one cohesive growth strategy. • Overlook our B2B acquisition funnel from incoming leads to sealed deals that are handed over to our operations teams • Own pricing and market expansion strategy and execution • Represent the commercial function within the leadership team — driving clarity, accountability, and alignment around business priorities. • Act as the voice and owner of commercial performance at the executive level. • Develop, own, and manage the commercial and marketing budget, ensuring efficient capital allocation across channels and markets. • Build and continuously improve forecasting models for revenue, acquisition, and retention performance. • Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts tied to key business metrics. • Drive budget discipline, ROI measurement, and financial accountability across the commercial organization. • Place AI and data at the core of how marketing decisions are made and executed. • Use predictive analytics, automation, and machine learning to optimize targeting, creative testing, and retention strategies. • Operate with a small, high-impact team that leverages technology to achieve scale. • Define and elevate the brandʼs narrative and emotional impact. • Translate medical credibility and scientific validation into trust, desire, and differentiation. • Build a brand that customers love, physicians respect, and competitors canʼt replicate. • Oversee all commercial channels, including the website, webshop, Amazon, Galaxus, and emerging retail partners. • Ensure third-party channels are fully stocked, compliant, and optimized for growth. • Drive continuous improvement in conversion rate and customer experience. • Build and manage high-value external partnerships and agency relationships to maximize commercial output. • Build a “Navy SEAL” team: small, specialized, high-performing, and mission-aligned. • Hire, develop, and retain top talent across key commercial disciplines. • Instill a culture of accountability, speed, and continuous learning. • Collaborate across Product, Medical, and Operations to ensure flawless execution in a regulated environment. • Take full accountability for commercial results — treating the commercial function as your own business.
