Role Description As Gropyus moves into the next phase of scaling up, we anticipate our Data growing rapidly. We’re looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Data Governance professional to join the Data and AI vertical. This role reports directly to the Head of Data and AI and will act as a high-level individual contributor as well as a strategic thought partner for the Data Leadership team and partners across Gropyus. A successful candidate will help us apply our Semantic Ontologies to our centralized Data Fabric and consult with tech domain expert teams on improving resilient, secure, and well-documented data in accordance with compliance standards. They will lead initiatives such as: - Expanding current Data Management offerings for the Data Fabric. - Integrating securely and effectively with AI agents and services. - Implementing stronger processes for data provenance within the Tech department. What you'll be doing: - Define, develop, implement and maintain the data governance framework, policies, standards, and procedures. - Contribute to the strategy of the Data Team including proposing and leading governance initiatives for both team roadmaps and potentially the larger company operational milestone. - Pairing with our process specialists, drive to best practices in data management including Data contracts, SOPs, retention, and access control. - Lead and report on data quality initiatives: metrics, monitoring, remediation, profiling, and continuous improvement. - Drive improvements to our Data Catalog and metadata management within Tech. - Support or lead tool selection/implementation for potential additional Data Quality tooling. - Identify and help manage data-related risks; collaborate on audits and compliance reviews. - Contribute to our Data Literacy efforts and expand training opportunities for our internal stakeholders. - Work closely with our Governance, Risk & Compliance, Information Security, and Corporate IT teams to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Management, Information Assurance, Computer Science, IT or related fields. - Significant, specialized experience (5+ years) in data governance, data quality, data management. - Experience with data governance frameworks & best practices (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK, data stewardship models). - Strong knowledge of data quality dimensions and tools; ability to define, measure, monitor, remediate data quality. - Good understanding of data architecture, data modeling, metadata management, data lineage. - Strong communication, stakeholder management skills; ability to influence, negotiate, collaborate cross-teams. - Proficient in working with regulatory and legal data/privacy requirements (e.g. GDPR, EU AI Act). Requirements - Hands-on experience with one or more data governance tools/platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Talend, data catalogs, metadata tools). - Past projects or familiarity with Ontologies, OWL and Semantic languages. - Familiarity with Data Fabric or Data Mesh frameworks. - Familiarity or Experience with Graph Databases. - Experience with highly complex, dynamic domains (Construction, Consulting, or Health Care). Role Description As a Senior Software Engineer, a variety of opportunities are available to you at GROPYUS. In this role you’ll work with us to generate the 3D parametric models that power our automated production lines. You’ll help design and improve our Kotlin services, build smart automation flows that react to new data, and tackle fascinating geometry and math challenges along the way. Qualifications - Strong Kotlin experience: Professional experience developing with Kotlin. - Cloud-native experience: Hands-on experience deploying and operating applications on Azure, GCP, AWS, or a similar cloud platform. - Experience with PostgreSQL databases. - Previous experience with performance optimizations of algorithms and geometrical 3D challenges. - A plus if you had experience with Rule Engines. - A plus if you had experience with Service Bus or other messaging systems. - End-to-end software ownership: Experience designing, building, running, and maintaining production software. - Modern engineering practices: Strong understanding of modern design patterns and experience or interest in pair programming and/or mob programming. - Reliability mindset: Experience with highly available and resilient systems is a plus. - Collaboration & planning: Interest in contributing to team strategy, roadmap definition, and sprint planning is a plus. About The Role: We are growing our Data Platform Team within the Gropyus Tech department. Our Platform team is responsible for our internal platform, the Gropyus Data Fabric. Our team interacts with experts from various domains such as Digital Building Planning and Automation, Product Operations, Sustainability, AI, IoT, construction engineers, building architects, logistics experts, software engineering; solving complex challenges pertaining to end-to-end process for planning, building, and operating a building. What You Will Be Doing: As part of the Data Platform organization, you will: - Design, build, and maintain core data platform components, including ingestion frameworks, transformation pipelines, and data storage layers - Own and improve data reliability through monitoring, alerting, SLAs, and data quality checks - Collaborate with domain experts and software engineers to understand data needs and deliver high-quality datasets. - Lead strategic initiatives to modernize or scale our data ecosystem (including query optimization, schema design, analytics, etc) - Mentor and guide team members to elevate engineering rigor and technical capability What You Bring: - Experience working with a tech stack similar to: - Programming languages like Python or Kotlin. - Databases like Postgres, BigQuery, Spark, Graph DB - Tools like: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Dagster, DBT - Cloud Storage Platforms - You have strong problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to break down complex tasks for operations including working with stakeholders, adapting to dynamic input, and leading implementation projects - You have experience identifying and resolving issues related to data discrepancies and inconsistencies and creating validation and testing for prevention and handling - You have experience in building, operating, and scaling data intensive reactive processing pipelines from end to end including ingestion, storage, orchestration, transformation, enrichment, and analytics Optional Experience: - Some knowledge about semantic web technologies like RDF and OWL - Experience with ontology engineering, and knowledge engineering topics, including using ontology engineering tools such as Protege - Experience working with construction industry data and / or complex and large datasets - Data Science, Machine Learning and AI agents What we offer: - Be part of something big: You’re here to make a change?
