Conservation Implementation Specialist

• Provide technical assistance to farmers, ranchers and other landowners through implementation of conservation practices. • Establish direct contact with farmers with existing financial assistance contracts with NRCS. • Collaborate with farmers to identify barriers to project completion. • Furnish technical assistance directly where possible. • Curate the contact list of service providers and contractors across the state for reference in aiding farmers. • Aid in the interpretation and layout of practices, assisting with and checking on projects in progress and certification assistance of completed practices. • Maintain extensive notes on all interactions with farmers to document support and progress towards contract completion. • Support NRCS staff and farmers with assessments, planning, data collection, and communications. • Assist in maintaining workload metrics with information from contracts for needed follow-up. • Attend relevant AFT and NRCS meetings and training courses to gather data and share information.
Budget Specialist

• Work in coordination with the Grants Management division in the preparation of proposal budgets and related timelines, ensuring alignment with financial policies, procedures, coding, and on-time completion. • Prepare annual budget as well as projection budgets (reforecasting) • For reforecasting, calculate year-end projections based on YTD actuals. • Collaborate with other AFT teams during work planning. • Ensure that all appropriate support services are covered in budgets. • Implement budget policies and guidelines. • Develop models or suggestions for expenditures to optimize budget adherence. • Produce monthly financial statements and related analysis, including staff hours reports. • Assist in the review of expense contracts for budget feasibility and ensure procurement guidelines are followed. • Assist with the annual financial statement audit. • Responsible for loading the budget and grant budgets into the ERP. • Report customization and ad hoc analysis. • Dashboard reporting development.
Southeast Grazing Network Coordinator

• Development and Delivery of Technical Training Programs/Curriculum. • Provide input for State/Region specific training programs within the GMN curriculum, including, but not limited to, regenerative grazing management and other best management practices that seek to enhance soil health, and achieve the goals and objectives as laid out in CLM-27 Climate Smart Beef Project. • Assist AFT in the delivery and dissemination of these training programs to Mentors, Mentees, and other producers within their State/Region through participation in one-on-one and group trainings. • Aid Mentors in delivering TA to their mentees, including traveling with Mentors within their state to visit Mentees. • Identification, Screening, and Onboarding of GMN Mentors. • Work with AFT personnel and partners to help identify potential GMN mentors within their State/Region. • Once identified, Mentor Coordinators shall assist with the onboarding of Mentor Sub-awardees into the GMN program. • This will include managing, with the help of AFT technical and administrative personnel, the contracting and signup of Mentors under the Sub-awardee agreement, defining Mentor roles and responsibilities. • Coordinate CPA-52 efforts. Assist Mentors and Mentees with USDA-FSA signup and ongoing reporting as required under CLM-27. • Assist Mentors and Mentees in signup for programs provided by partner NGOs such as AgriWebb, Indigo Ag, and EarthOptics, and provide ongoing support to ensure that required data is collected, reported, and that Mentees/Producers are receiving program benefits. • Grazing Network coordinators will also be engaged in evaluation efforts where appropriate and may be asked to respond to evaluation surveys and/or participate in interviews. • Administration of Correlated AFT Programs and Initiatives, and Opportunities with OTHER Agencies.

Grant Accountant

• Reporting directly to the Grants Finance Manager (or designee), the Grant Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting, and grant support services to meet the needs of the organization and its funders. • Prepare grant invoices and submit billings to funders in a timely manner, including preparing applicable forms (eg. SF-270) and compiling needed support documentation. • Prepare accurate and timely grant financial reports for submission to funders, including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports using SF-425 or other applicable templates. • Prepare financial reports on grants for internal management; communicate monthly financial results to program staff, informing them of the financial position of each project and current award balance. • Interpret grant agreements, terms, and conditions to ensure expenditures align with funding guidelines and allowable expense requirements; stay abreast of U.S. Government (USG) grant management policies and their applicability. • Attend award kick-off meetings; ensure all award-related documents are saved, updated in accounting system, and reflected accurately in the grants tracking log with complete reporting information. • Coordinate with senior finance colleagues to process journal entries, labor distribution changes, reconciliations, and grant closeout functions; track and monitor match (cost-share) fund requirements and progress on a monthly basis. • Work closely with program divisions, budget managers, and the finance team to support proper and timely expenditure of grant funds in compliance with applicable guidelines and budget deadlines. • Compile year-end reports and work papers to support the annual audit and any grant-specific audits; manage grant-related accounting issues with timely resolution and appropriate escalation to the Grants Finance Manager.
Farm Viability Operations Associate

Agricultural Stewardship Associate

Institutional Partnerships Manager Fully Remote • AFT Headquarters - WASHINGTON, DC 20006 Overview Salary Range $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 Salary/year Level Management Position Type Full Time Description Job purpose The Manager of Institutional Partnerships leads relationships with institutional funders that include government agencies and foundations. This position may also play a key role in interacting with other types of funders and supporting other American Farmland Trust (AFT) Development and Programmatic staff in securing funding for its programs and projects. The Manager of Institutional Partnerships is also responsible for identifying ideal funding prospects for AFT’s work and making recommendations to staff on which funding opportunities to pursue. This position may also play a key role in supporting AFT staff in the development of projects and programs, as well as assisting Finance and Accounting staff in compliance with funding award requirements. The Manager of Institutional Partnerships manages funding awards throughout their duration, including any necessary amendments, extensions, and other changes that may be necessitated. Position summary Reporting to the Deputy Director of Institutional Partnerships, this position leads applications to institutional funding source opportunities to support AFT’s mission. The position coordinates teams of staff and partners to develop proposals and applications to grants and other contract agreements that will fund AFT’s programs, projects, and operations. The Manager of Institutional Partnerships is also a key member of strategy development for fundraising for AFT’s regions and initiatives and collaborates with program staff as well as corporate and individual giving staff in implementing fundraising strategies. This position provides grant writing, research, and reporting support and is assigned a portfolio of AFT program areas. Duties and responsibilities - Oversight of Institutional Partnership fundraising for assigned Regional Programs and National Initiatives. - Coordinates with the Managing Director of Institutional Partnerships, Assistant Directors of Institutional Partnerships, other Managers of Institutional Partnerships, Institutional Partnerships Coordinators, and other Development, Finance and Administrative, and Program staff on the execution of Institutional Partnerships fundraising goals. - Recommends and vets potential funding opportunities to pursue. - Leads and coordinates teams of staff and partners in proposal and application development to grants and other funding agreement contracts, ensuring compliance with funding solicitations and guidelines and submission deadlines are met. - Carries out key proposal and application development tasks that can include narrative writing, budget development, supplemental documentation coordination and development, and completing associated forms. - Supports Program staff in joint proposals with partners in which AFT will be a subawardee or subcontractor. - Collaborates with other Institutional Partnerships and Program staff to identify and research new funding opportunities, including foundations and relevant government funding opportunities. - Cultivates new and manages existing institutional funding relationships. - Manages and develops strategies to help meet and exceed annual revenue targets and develops pipelines for future work. - Partner with programmatic staff in program planning processes, such as work planning, to provide insight to related fundraising opportunities. - Manages grants and other institutional funding contracts throughout their duration, leading any related administrative functions. Education & Experience - Bachelor’s degree. - 2+ years of experience in foundation and/or government fundraising or relevant experience. A graduate school degree in a relevant field can fulfill 1 year of required work experience. Working conditions/Travel - The position is primarily remote. - Occasional work in the evenings or on weekends may be required to meet deadlines. - Occasional travel within the Mid-Atlantic region (approximately 5 trips per year). Degree of Supervision Given This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Compensation American Farmland Trust offers excellent vacation, medical, retirement and other benefits. The salary range for this position is from $70,000 to $75,000 based upon experience.
