Role Description The Development Strategist supports and collaborates deeply with the Deputy Director of Foundation Giving and the Director of Fundraising — as well as other fundraising staff — to raise institutional/foundation-gifts portfolio within the organization’s larger movement-driven fundraising model, centering donor-organizing practices and relationship-based fundraising. They are a key member of the fundraising team, which works collaboratively across the organization and in close coordination with executive leadership, program colleagues, and the finance and operations teams. The Development Strategist will produce written material under deadline; support foundation strategy development; track deadlines and completion of certain fundraising tasks; manage information and relationships; and hold the prospect research necessary to build a strong fundraising program. Principal Responsibilities - Work with the Deputy Director and Director to sustain and increase support from existing general support funders and solicit new cross-cutting revenue through research, cultivation, and solicitation of new funders. - Partner closely with the Senior Writer on proposals and reports, and draft portfolio-appropriate funder-facing content. - Become familiar with program teams to support general support fundraising, emergent pipelines, and short-term funding opportunities. - Develop subject matter knowledge within assigned embedded programs. - Project manage grant stewardship and solicitations for our largest general support funders. - Collaborate with leadership to identify unique fundraising opportunities in emergent or short-term campaign programs. - Translate program objectives into grant deliverables in collaboration with program directors and senior leadership. - Compile and draft content including grant proposals, reports, case statements, concept notes, organizational and program overviews, and donor updates. - Drive overall prospect research for the team and track institutional relationships. - Forecast funder revenue and capture data in our constituent and grants management systems (Salesforce). Qualifications - Three years of professional experience, preferably with at least one year of grant management for a non-profit organization. - Experience editing or writing, preferably for philanthropic audiences. - Familiarity with standard methods of foundation solicitation and cultivation. - A problem solver; tenacious, and proactive with keen attention to detail. - Proficiency in Google Workspace, Outlook, MS Office applications, and Salesforce. - Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, meet multiple deadlines, and perform under pressure. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships internally and externally. - Innovative and creative with a fresh perspective, able to champion new ideas thoughtfully and thoroughly. - Deep commitment to the mission of Community Change and the project of building power with low-income communities of color; passion for social justice. Position Description: The Business Intelligence Specialist will play a pivotal role in harnessing both internal and external datasets to empower Community Change’s mission for social, economic justice and reaching the goal to abolish poverty. By designing and implementing advanced analytics solutions, the specialist will extract actionable insights from a variety of data sources to inform organizational strategy and measure impact. This position requires collaboration across teams to ensure data-driven decision making, the integration and optimization of business intelligence platforms, and the creation of unified dashboards and reports on organization metrics. The ideal candidate combines a passion for progressive social change with technical expertise in data analysis, visualization, and the responsible management and security of sensitive information. A portion of the time will be spent working with Community Change's sister organization, Community Change Action. Align and centralize data practices across Community Change/Action •Establish standardized data governance frameworks and protocols to ensure consistency and integrity across all organizational systems. •Coordinate with cross-functional teams to consolidate data sources and eliminate redundancies, fostering a single source of truth for organizational information. •Implement centralized data management tools and platforms that streamline data collection, storage, and access throughout the organization. •Develop and enforce organization-wide policies for data security, privacy, and compliance, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements. •Lead regular audits and data quality assessments, providing actionable insights and recommendations to continually improve data management processes and outcomesQualificationsQualifications: •Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker, with demonstrated ability to design interactive dashboards and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences. •Advanced skills in querying databases using SQL, and experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to prepare and integrate large datasets from multiple sources. •Solid understanding of statistical analysis and data modeling techniques, including experience utilizing programming languages such as DAX, Python or R for data manipulation and predictive analytics. •Demonstrated expertise in delivering training sessions on data literacy, analytical tools, and business intelligence concepts to diverse staff audiences. •Proven ability to design and evaluate custom metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure program effectiveness and align with strategic organizational goals. •Strong background in business intelligence practices, including experience guiding leadership and staff on effective data utilization for advocacy, storytelling, and program improvements. •Experience in standardizing and centralizing data practices across complex organizations, ensuring consistent data methodologies and protocols. •In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks and the development and enforcement of protocols that maintain data integrity and consistency. •Ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams to consolidate data sources, eliminate redundancies, and foster a unified source of organizational information. •Hands-on experience with centralized data management platforms and tools for the streamlined collection, storage, and accessibility of organizational data. •Thorough understanding of data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance requirements, with a record of developing and upholding organization-wide policies in these areas. •Strong writing and editing skills •Computer literacy required, including MS Office Suite and G-Suite skills. Principal Responsibilities - Serve as a highly skilled strategist and organizer with experience in strategic analysis and managing multiple programs. - Identify opportunities for alignment and bring program areas together under a cohesive strategy. - Oversee management of program budgets with support from the Director of Program Compliance and Financial Management. - Apply experience and knowledge of the organizing landscape to support and develop teams. - Support organizing staff in the development and monitoring of work plans, campaign plans, and events/actions. - Manage and train organizing staff, interns, and fellows, ensuring regular supervision and evaluation. - Represent the organization in key partnerships and coalitions on local, state, and federal levels as needed. Qualifications - At least 10 years of demonstrated track record in grassroots movement building. - Experience creating and implementing a complex organizing strategy. - Networks and understanding of the organizing context in immigrant rights, economic justice, and/or racial equity. - Seasoned community organizer and strategist with previous roles in management and program design. - Skilled facilitator and trainer with experience leading diverse groups. - Experience with staff management and development. - Experience overseeing program or campaign budgets. - Ability to delegate and communicate hard decisions. - Organizational skills to align team members’ individual goals with a larger strategy. - Comfort with public speaking and engaging with diverse audiences. - Demonstrated understanding of how 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PACs function. - Ability to communicate effectively via virtual platforms and in person.
