Your Opportunity One Permanent Full Time Position Join Capital Power as an Accounting Specialist, U.S. Reporting, and help deliver accurate, timely financial reporting for a diverse portfolio of U.S. renewable and thermal assets. In this role, you will work across a dynamic business, partner with operational teams, and contribute to the financial insights that support sound decision-making. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys improving processes, solving problems, and maintaining high standards of accuracy in a fast-paced environment. What You’ll Do - Prepare invoices and record revenues and charges associated with applicable ISO or PPA off-takers. - Prepare and post monthly journal entries for U.S. thermal and renewable assets. - Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations. - Prepare intercompany settlements. - Analyze and report monthly, quarterly, and annual variances, highlighting key drivers and trends. - Prepare supporting work papers for external audits. - Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve timelines, and strengthen the flow of information. - Partner with plant-based business managers to support accurate reporting and a clear understanding of monthly results. - Help reduce financial reporting risk by ensuring internal controls are operating effectively and appropriate checks and balances are in place. - Build a strong understanding of plant operating characteristics that influence financial performance. - Maintain awareness of the regional power markets where the assets operate. - Contribute to annual budget and forecast processes. What You Bring Education - Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Professional accounting designation or equivalent is preferred. - Master’s degree is an asset. Experience - 2–5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or analytical roles. - Experience in power markets or power generation is an asset. Technical Skills - Understanding of supplier contracts and operating practices that govern revenue and expense transactions. - Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. - Strong planning and analytical skills. - Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel. - Experience with Oracle is an asset. Work Location and Schedule - Hybrid office/work-from-home position based in Phoenix, Arizona, or Midland, Michigan. - Some overtime will be required during peak periods. Additional Information This opportunity is open to candidates based in Phoenix, Arizona, or Midland, Michigan. This posting will remain open until the role is filled. The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $104,000. Final compensation will reflect the successful candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience. This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and an annual bonus. The Senior SME, Fleet Turnarounds is responsible for the overall performance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the fleet-wide turnaround process. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight to the designated outage teams, mentoring and guiding them through the planning and execution of each turnaround to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes aligned with the Outage Manager’s requirements. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning capability, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-impact turnaround outcomes across the organization. You will contribute to our team by: - Leading the end-to-end turnaround process across the fleet, driving consistency, standardization, and best practices. - Providing technical expertise and operational support to Asset teams to optimize scope development, risk management, scheduling, and execution performance. - Integrating Capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects into turnaround planning and execution to ensure seamless coordination, cost control, and schedule adherence. - Developing, maintaining, and reviewing Asset long-term plans to ensure competitiveness, strategic alignment, and accuracy of scope, cost forecasts, and execution strategies. - Establishing performance metrics, monitoring turnaround results, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and financial performance. - Identify and mentor the immediate and extended turnaround team for deliverables and responsibilities. - Identify and implement continuous improvement, best practices, initiatives in Turnaround process and execution. - Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with contractors providing services. What you will bring to the role: Education: - Preferred: B.Sc. Engineering, with P.Eng. designation OR College/University level management/business degree. Experience: - 10+ years Project Management experience, with 5+ Turnaround experience. - 5+ year on-site Power Generating Plant experience, preferably in maintenance. Technical Skills: - Experience preparing and obtaining approval for large multi-year budgets and subsequent execution. - Technical experience and understanding of all turnaround planning and execution systems and processes. - Excellent in root cause analysis and problem resolution skills. - Significant experience with RFQ, sourcing, and contract negotiations. - Excellent communication skills. - Ability to effectively manage and mentor resources that are not direct reports. - Highly self-motivated, with demonstrated ability to deliver on challenging goals. - Ability to work in fast-paced, energetic environment with tight deadlines. Working Conditions: - Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety sensitive location. - Physical mobility and ability to use PPE required. - Multi-union/out-of-scope work force. - Required travel up to 20% Additional Details: Remote work arrangements may be considered depending on role requirements and business needs.
