Role Description The Customer Engineering team at Calor Gas are looking to recruit an engaging and proactive Gas Engineer providing engineering services and emergency response to Calor customers in the Carlisle and surrounding areas. Key responsibilities will include: - Installing and maintaining Calor’s bulk tanks and assets at customer sites. - Travel (van and fuel provided) in order to meet customer service standards for our largely rural customer base. - Participation in a standby rota to respond to gas emergencies out of normal working hours. Qualifications - ACS Gas Qualified. - A Full Manual UK driving licence is essential. - Experience in dealing with customers and providing excellent customer care. - Any relevant gas engineering experience would be considered useful. - Understanding of LPG and the installation and maintenance of bulk LPG tanks and cylinders would be a distinct advantage. - Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards, including Health and Safety awareness. Requirements - Be able to follow procedures and instructions. - Full industry specific training and support will be given to the right individual. - Willingness to travel. - Ability to communicate clearly. - Excellent customer service skills, be patient and ensure customer needs are met. - Be a team player and work well with others. - Good organisational skills. - Be able to monitor quality and reject sub-standard work. Role Description To show visible leadership and take personal accountability for health, safety, security and the environment in accordance with Calor GB’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment Policy, HS-Q-01 within their geographical area of responsibility. This role acts as the eyes and ears of the Customer Engineering Leadership Team. - Ensure field teams carry out work safely and to the required technical standards via live in-field observations and post job assessments. - Provide SME support across all work types, ensuring compliance with Calor, LGUK, UKAS and BS/EN Standards. - Support the wider Calor community in Sales, Marketing, or Customer Service queries including incident investigation, install specification, and marketing event support. - Maintain and communicate changes in Legislation, Codes of Practice, Calor standards, industry best practice, and new products. - Support and coach colleagues, particularly during the onboarding and training of New-Entrants, New Starters, and office staff. - Carry out assessments with recently trained engineers in the field as part of their course completion and final sign-off. - Feed back concerns and gaps highlighted in the field to the training and technical teams for continuous improvement. - Conduct consumer incident investigations, determining causes, highlighting trends, and liaising with Insurance and legal partners. - Support the Customer Engineering training team in developing, maintaining, and briefing out training content as required. Qualifications - Wide range of experience within the Liquid Gas industry. - Current ACS Certification. - Experience and knowledge to work/advise both within and outside of processes and procedures in a safe and considered way. - Experience with a wide range of LPG equipment. - Experience of working with multi-disciplined teams across different functions within Calor. Requirements - Current MCA Inspector or ability to meet the Inspection Body criteria. - Hold a current Auditing qualification. - Hold a current Vocational Assessors qualification. - Hold a current SHEA Gas qualification. - Hold IOSH Managing Safely qualification. - Hold a WAH for Managers qualification. - Understand MCA Inspection activity & Inspection Body requirements. - Experience of working with External bodies such as UKAS or Gas-Safe. You’ll also help ensure the integrity of our high-hazard processes keeping our people, our customers, and the public safe. - Lead and deliver engineering projects with a focus on multi-discipline installations. - Apply specialist engineering knowledge to solve real-world problems and improve business performance. - Provide technical expertise and support across Operations, Sales, and Customer Engineering. - Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of new systems and equipment. - Ensure all projects comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and Calor specifications. - Manage contractors, consultants, and suppliers during project delivery. - Share your learnings and knowledge with the wider team, supporting knowledge development across the function. Qualifications - HNC (minimum) in a relevant engineering discipline; working towards Chartered status preferred. - Strong understanding of COMPEX / ATEX requirements in hazardous areas. - Experience working on high-hazard process plants and a good understanding of COMAH Regulations. - Familiarity with safety analysis techniques such as HAZOP and LOPA. - Proven project engineering and management skills, including cost control. - Ability to set high standards, challenge the status quo, and deliver continuous improvement. - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
