Role Description We are seeking a highly motivated Field Service & Applications Scientist (m/f/d) to support advanced microscopy systems used in neuroscience and other research environments across Europe. This is a field-based, customer-facing role combining system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, while also incorporating a meaningful applications support component focused on imaging workflows. The role offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong scientific background to transition into an applied, high-impact position supporting cutting-edge research. The position is location-flexible within the EU, provided there is good access to international travel. The role requires extensive travel across Europe (typically 60–70%). An extended technical and applications training program, including time at Bruker manufacturing and training sites (initially in the United States and/or Europe), will be provided to ensure the successful candidate develops strong service, applications, and customer support capabilities before taking full independent field responsibility. Responsibilities - Support the installation, qualification, maintenance, and repair of multiphoton microscopy systems at customer sites across Europe. - Diagnose and resolve optical, laser, electronic, mechanical, and software-related issues with guidance from colleagues. - Perform preventative maintenance, system calibrations, and performance checks following defined procedures. - Support of additional microscope products will be added after mastery of the multiphoton line. - Provide remote technical support. - Accurately document service activities in the service management system. - Support neuroscience imaging applications, including in vivo and ex vivo brain imaging, functional imaging, calcium/voltage indicators, and deep-tissue multiphoton experiments. - Assist customers with basic system optimization and experimental setups relevant to their research goals. - Apply scientific knowledge to help interpret imaging performance and offer practical recommendations. - Collaborate closely with senior service engineers, applications scientists, and R&D teams. - Communicate technical and scientific information to researchers with varying levels of experience. - Build professional, long-term relationships with customers through reliable, thoughtful support. - Share customer feedback and field insights with internal teams. Qualifications - Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a closely related discipline (recent graduates encouraged to apply). - Hands-on experience with multiphoton (two-photon) microscopy. - Strong interest in applied technology, instrumentation, and transitioning into a field-based role. - Solid understanding of biological imaging techniques and experimental workflows. - Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Europe (typically 60-70%). - Willingness and ability to participate in extended training in the United States. - Fluency in English; additional European languages are advantageous. - Valid driving license and ability to work independently following training.
