Upsher-Smith Laboratories, LLC is seeking a tenured Senior Medical Science and Advocacy Liaison to join our rare disease business unit. The individual in this role will provide scientific and clinical support for our rare disease products, while cultivating relationships with national and regional thought leaders at key academic institutions and Centers of Excellence as well as with patient advocacy groups. This is an advanced and strategic role, with the individual playing a key part in shaping and executing both thought leader and advocacy engagement plans, as well as overall medical strategy. The position is remote and will report to the Medical Affairs Director at Upsher-Smith. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Identify external experts as thought leaders and develop engagement plans, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. - Develop and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with identified thought leaders through in-person and virtual interactions; facilitate scientific exchange related to Upsher-Smith products and therapeutic areas of interest. - Develop and maintain collaborative and supportive relationships with key patient advocacy organizations and professional medical societies. - Proactively gather, synthesize, and disseminate insights from though leaders and the advocacy community to inform medical strategy. - Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of engagements and key performance metrics. - Represent Upsher-Smith at scientific meetings, congresses, and advocacy events. - Participate in and support the organization of advisory boards, providing scientific expertise and facilitating discussions. - Participate in activities to support managed care initiatives, collaborating with market access teams. - Conduct all afore mentioned activities in compliance with Upsher-Smith policies and procedures and all applicable regulatory and ethical standards for scientific communication and interactions. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS - Doctoral degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, DNP) or Advanced Practice Provider (e.g, NP or PA). - Robust understanding of the MSL function within a pharma organization, with a minimum of 5 years experience as a MSL with a strong track record of success. - Prior experience in neurology strongly preferred, such as neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, or other rare pediatric neurologic conditions. - Outstanding interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. - Ability to deliver high-impact scientific presentations in both in-person and virtual environments. - Ability to develop trust and maintain integrity through ethical interactions with internal and external customers. - Ability to travel in the continental US (30% of working days). Role Description The Senior Manager Accounting and Special Projects, North America will be responsible for supporting the CFO and act as a key interface between Site Finance, Corporate Finance, and North America Business Units, providing analysis and reporting to support effective decision making and strategic initiatives. This position will also be responsible for certain treasury functions, strategic project support, audit support, and financial presentations. - Actively contribute to delivery of overall financial and business performance. - Responsible for financial report, management report, budgeting, and forecasting of the various business units in North America. - Support U.S. tax return related filings and payment. - Support Internal and External Audit requirements, prepare PBC and Reporting package. - Evaluate customer financial stability before extending credit, setting credit limits, and reviewing credit hold scenarios to prevent payment issues. - Oversee all money owed by customers, communicating with customers and PM/Sales team, monitoring outstanding overdue and bad debt, and prepare related weekly and monthly reports. - Ensure accurate and timely creation/delivery of invoices for PDS projects and aligning billing with contract term and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and confirming proper revenue recording, and setup global process by utilizing automation, optimizing invoicing workflows, and improving cash application. - Support and develop IDTS SRED claim. - Be point of contact for U.S. business colleagues for financial issues. - Be point of above site Corporate Finance contacts in Taiwan, external auditors, regulatory authorities. - Support CFO on various ad-hoc projects, including ERP projects. - Other duties as required. Qualifications - Minimum of 7 years related work experience in Accounting or Finance preferably in a manufacturing or Lifesciences environment. - CPA designation and/or MBA, and experience in public accounting (audit or tax) is preferred. - Advanced expertise in MS Office Suite Applications (Excel, Powerpoint). - Possessing advanced level of EXCEL proficiency is a must. - The ability to prepare pivot tables and to break down large volumes of data to provide succinct answers in support of problem solving and analysis. - Experience using SAP and related reporting tools. - Demonstrated experience working with business areas to guide business managers through Monthly reporting, Budget and Financial Planning processes. - Exposure to sales analysis. - Deep understanding of accounting processes and regulations and experience dealing with complex accounting principles and financial statements. - Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial analysis to business leaders. - Strong communication, collaboration, project management and presentation experience. - Must be able to travel (including international travel).
