Role Description Bluesky’s mission is to build an open protocol for the social internet. As Bluesky continues to grow and explore new product surfaces, Trust & Safety needs to be embedded early in product strategy, design, and launch readiness. We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager, Trust & Safety and AI Safety to serve as the primary product partner between Trust & Safety, Product, Engineering and Legal. This person will own our product risk assessment process, lead operational readiness for AI-adjacent product work, and help ensure new features are built with safety considerations from the start. This is a high-context, cross-functional role for someone who can move between strategy and execution: - Understanding emerging product risks - Translating them into clear operational requirements - Driving alignment across teams - Building repeatable systems that help Bluesky ship quickly and responsibly Responsibilities - Own the Product Risk Assessment process end-to-end for new feature launches, including intake, scoping, risk categorization, mitigation tracking, launch readiness, and post-launch review. - Serve as the primary Trust & Safety liaison to Product and Engineering for new product development, ensuring safety considerations are included early in specs, roadmap conversations, and launch planning. - Lead Trust & Safety product thinking for AI-adjacent product work, including harm framework operationalization, launch readiness, tooling needs, queue impact, escalation paths, moderator training, and communications posture. - Build and maintain repeatable launch readiness frameworks for Trust & Safety, including checklists, templates, trackers, and feedback loops from post-launch moderation and operational observations. - Partner with Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, Comms, and Operations to identify risks, define mitigations, and clarify ownership across complex or ambiguous product launches. - Establish a forward-looking roadmap for Trust & Safety product needs, including internal tooling, AI safety capabilities, detection systems, queue routing, escalation infrastructure, reporting, and risk dashboards. - Act as the Trust & Safety product counterpart in roadmap reviews, product planning rituals, spec reviews, and launch readiness checks. - Translate operational Trust & Safety needs into product requirements that Engineering and Product can act on. - Identify strategic opportunities where Trust & Safety systems, automation, tooling, or process improvements can compound over time. - Help move Trust & Safety from a reactive review function to a proactive product partner embedded in how Bluesky builds. Qualifications - Have experience in product management, Trust & Safety, integrity, platform safety, AI safety, risk, or a closely related field. - Have worked on consumer products at scale, especially products with user-generated content, social interactions, recommendations, messaging, AI features, or other high-risk surfaces. - Are strong at identifying product risks early and translating them into practical mitigations, operational requirements, and launch criteria. - Can build systems from scratch: intake processes, risk assessment frameworks, launch readiness checklists, product requirements, trackers, and cross-functional operating rhythms. - Are comfortable working across Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, Comms, and Operations, and can drive clarity when ownership is ambiguous. - Have strong product judgment and can balance user experience, safety, operational feasibility, legal exposure, and company velocity. - Are thoughtful about AI safety and can reason about how AI-enabled features may create new forms of user harm, abuse, manipulation, operational burden, or regulatory risk. - Communicate clearly in writing and can create crisp documentation that helps teams make decisions. - Like working on small, fast-moving teams with high autonomy. - Are excited to help build the safety foundations for an open social protocol. Additional Information - We’re a fully remote team, but meaningful overlap with Pacific Time working hours is required. - For this role, proximity and willingness to travel to San Francisco, Seattle, or team offsites is a plus. - We offer health, dental, and vision insurance.
Role Description What if social media worked more like the web — open, flexible, and full of possibility? That's the future we’re building at Bluesky. Our app is already used daily by millions, but it's just the beginning: underneath it is a protocol designed for an entire ecosystem of apps, all connected by the same social graph. We’re looking for a staff engineer to come do the best work of their career here. This is a staff IC role. You won't manage people. You'll do something harder: help set the technical direction for a team and the standard everyone builds to. We're looking for someone operating at a staff level today, who has owned hard problems across a large system and been the person their team trusted to make the right calls. Most senior engineering jobs are some version of maintaining a large system or optimizing a mature product. This is different. Our app is still taking shape, the protocol underneath it is still being invented, and the team is small enough that one exceptional engineer can change the trajectory of the whole thing. You'll ship features used by millions within weeks, not quarters. You'll make architectural calls that many other engineers build on. We think this is the most interesting moment to be a builder in years. Agentic coding is changing what a small team can do, and we're leaning into it. We're looking for someone who is already living in that future and is excited to define what an AI-native engineering team looks like. This is a rare opportunity to work on something that matters. Social media shapes how billions of people connect and stay informed, and right now it's almost entirely controlled by companies optimizing for attention. Bluesky is the bet that it can be open instead, and built on a protocol that no one owns but everyone shares. Qualifications - 10+ years of experience (5+ in management) building consumer-scale products and integrating AI coding tools to act as a force multiplier for the team. - Deeply experienced in TypeScript, React, and React Native (iOS/Android/Web), with a focus on motion-rich, high-polish interfaces. - Proven ability to own complex areas end-to-end—from scoping and sequencing to delivering in fast-paced, autonomous environments. - A UI/UX-focused engineer who understands social app mechanics and sweats the details of the user experience. Requirements - You've made major technical decisions that mattered, and you've lived long enough with the consequences to know which ones were right. - You already use agentic coding tools every day, and you have specific, opinionated views about where they create leverage and where they break down. Benefits - We're a fully remote team. - This role requires significant overlap with Pacific Time (PT) working hours. - The anticipated base salary range for this position is [STAFF BAND, TBD], excluding equity. - Equity will be considered in the total compensation package. - Final base salary will be based on geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
Role Description What if social media worked more like the web — open, flexible, and full of possibility? That’s the future Bluesky is building. Our app is already used daily by millions, but it’s just the beginning: underneath it is a protocol designed for an entire ecosystem of apps, all connected by the same social graph. We’re looking for a product engineer who loves building consumer apps that feel smooth, polished, and delightful. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team where your code will reach millions, your design instincts will shape the user experience, and your ideas will help invent the future of social networks. You’ll be joining the team responsible for Bluesky’s flagship app — a multi-platform, open-source social client already in the hands of millions. Your work will be immediately visible and will directly shape how people experience the future of social media. This role is perfect for someone who loves consumer apps: sweating the details of interactions, building polished and delightful interfaces, and making complex flows feel simple. We’re a small, fast-moving team, so you’ll have the freedom to ship quickly, influence product direction, and push the boundaries of what a social app can feel like. Qualifications - Strong programming fundamentals and software engineering skills - Deeply experienced with Typescript (5+ years) - Shipped React Native apps to iOS, Android, and web - Care about UI/UX quality and sweat the details - Worked across the full stack (frontend and backend) - Built motion-rich interfaces (gestures, animations) - Intuitive understanding of how people use social apps - Thrive on small, fast-moving teams where you can own big pieces of work - Excited to help shape the future of social networking Requirements - Previous experience working at startups or on social media products - Fully remote team, though working hours overlap with PST (Pacific Standard Time) - On-site component to interviews may be required Benefits - Anticipated base salary range: $170,000 - $230,000, excluding equity - Equity will be considered in the total compensation package - Final base salary based on geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications Additional Notes Please include links to your portfolio or examples of past work in your cover letter or resume.
Role Description We're hiring a part-time contractor to run Bluesky's brand presence across four platforms: Bluesky, X, Threads, and LinkedIn. You'll be the person carrying our voice on social day to day — surfacing trends, intercepting cultural moments, and building a posting practice that reflects how we actually think and talk. This is a 10 - 15 hour per week engagement, reporting to the Head of Communications. We're looking for a true poster—someone who already lives on the social web and understands its rhythms. What You'll Do - Own the day-to-day posting cadence across Bluesky, X, Threads, and LinkedIn - Develop content and maintain the content calendar - Post directly to brand accounts within established voice and brand guardrails - Surface trends, conversations, and cultural moments worth weighing in on, and act on them quickly when timing matters - Engage with the community where appropriate - Partner with Communications and App team on launches, campaigns, and embargoed announcements - Track what's working and report back Qualifications - Deep experience managing social for a major brand or comparable accounts (agency, in-house, or independent) - Native fluency on Bluesky, X, Threads, LinkedIn and a real point of view on how each platform actually works - A poster's instincts: quick wit, sharp timing, comfort writing in a brand voice without making it sound like one - Ability to spot a trend early and decide whether it's worth engaging with — or worth letting pass - Strong judgment under time pressure: knows what to post, what to flag, and what to skip - Comfortable working with minimal oversight - Awareness of the news cycle and consciousness of timing around posting (e.g., we don't want something too flippant after a serious event) - Genuine curiosity about Bluesky and the open social web — this isn't the right role for someone who treats it as just another platform - A keen eye for determining when a post could be a story and the ability to amplify it in the right way for the right audience - A background in communications, marketing or community management is a plus Requirements - Hourly Rate: $100.00 - Location: Bluesky is a fully remote company. Overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST) working hours is required. - Proximity to Seattle, WA and willingness to travel there regularly is a plus. Benefits - Bluesky is an equal opportunity employer. - We are building a team as diverse as the communities we serve.

Qualifications - 6-8 years of operations experience at a high-growth startup, with significant time spent building 0 → 1 process. - Thinks AI-first and aims to leverage technology to solve scaling challenges. - Think in systems: when you see a recurring problem, you build something that makes it not recur. - Can hold strategic and operational work simultaneously and understand working on a small team requires both. - Are comfortable operating in a high agency, low ego environment where we move quickly and focus on results. - Have owned vendor relationships and financial operations with enough depth to not need hand-holding on routine decisions. Requirements - Experience representing an operations function to leadership or cross-functional stakeholders. - Familiarity with Ramp, Quickbooks, Rippling, Ironclad, Linear, Notion, Zapier, or similar tools. - Background spanning operational systems, vendor management, and financial operations. - Experience building operational infrastructure in a company that didn't have it yet. Entertainment Partnerships Manager (Contract) About Bluesky Bluesky's vision is to make social more like the web itself. We're building a social media app, but beyond that, we've created a protocol that supports a broad ecosystem of applications and clients. About the Role: Conversations and communities are moving to Bluesky, and we need someone to accelerate that shift. As Entertainment Partnerships Manager, you'll be the connective tissue between Bluesky and the outside world: building relationships with online communities to make sure they don't just show up on Bluesky but thrive here. You'll work closely with the partnerships lead and cross-functionally with growth and product teams to turn Bluesky into the place for real-time connection. You’ll also be the conduit between entertainment partners and the Bluesky team. This role demands taste—the ability to spot when a pain point reveals a platform-wide gap, when a feature request from one partner could transform how we serve all entertainment communities, and how to translate partner conversations into crisp product and growth priorities. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders in the entertainment-social space. - Grow our communities through programmatic activations during live events. - Own planning and execution for how Bluesky engages with major sporting events, across IRL and digital campaigns. - Collaborate cross-functionally. Work with product, marketing, and comms teams to translate partner insights into actionable recommendations. Advocate for community needs internally. - Track and report on performance. Define success metrics for partnerships, track your inputs and outputs, and report clearly on what's working. Your data will inform our priorities and resource allocation. - Leverage data to develop an engagement strategy that identifies opportunities to strengthen how we serve our community of creators You might be a good fit if you have: - 5+ years of experience in content partnerships, creator/talent management, or business development roles. - Have deep knowledge of the social content ecosystem. You have existing relationships and know how to build new ones quickly. - Have worked in high-velocity startup environments where you ship fast and iterate often. - Are fluent in social — you don’t just “manage partnerships,” you get the internet - Have a track record of leading campaigns that moved the needle on awareness, sentiment, and/or growth - Can operate autonomously, move fast, and deliver results in ambiguous or rapidly evolving spaces We're especially excited if you: - Are already familiar with Bluesky, AT Protocol, or the decentralized social landscape - You have experience with the commercial aspects of the content industry - You’ve worked directly in entertainment media, at a rightsholders, or at an agency - Can show us a portfolio of partnerships campaigns you’ve previously worked on Join our team and help shape the future of social!
About Bluesky Bluesky's vision is to make social more like the web itself. We're building a social media app, but beyond that, we've created a protocol that supports a broad ecosystem of applications and clients. Imagine a network of applications — from microblogging to photos to video to long-form writing — all interconnected and accessible with a shared identity. About The Role: Bluesky’s mission is to build an open protocol for the social internet. Within Bluesky, we’re hiring for a newly formed Expedition team led by the founder and CIO. The Expedition team’s role is to explore what becomes possible at the frontier, and as a founding member of it, you’ll build the first agentic social experiences native to atproto. If you’re well versed in agentic systems, eager to build new kinds of social experiences, and believes it’s important that the user remains in control, you might be a good fit. We’re looking for experienced developers with a pioneering spirit. Responsibilities: - Rapidly prototype, develop, and deploy agentic systems built natively on the AT Protocol - Collaborate directly with the founder to surface new ideas and iterate on product direction - Own significant surface area: architecture decisions, implementation, and iteration based on real user feedback - Research and develop novel interaction paradigms that extend what users can do - Work on infrastructure such as memory systems, semantic search, and large scale databases - Design and implement the infrastructure that makes agents reliable: context management, task execution, and behavioral guardrails You might be a good fit if you: - Have strong fundamental programming skills - Have hands-on experience building with modern language models and are thoughtful about where they add genuine user value - Have extensive experience with Go or Typescript/React (e.g. 5+ years) - Have built consumer software at scale (>1M active users) - Have some experience with database systems (e.g. Postgres, MySQL, SQLite) - Have some experience with search systems (e.g. Elasticsearch) - Like working on small, fast-moving teams with high autonomy - Are excited to go deep on the AT Protocol - Have built new things from scratch You might be a bad fit if you: - Don’t like uncertainty and need a roadmap handed to you - Like a regular work schedule without intense sprints - Just want to write code without thinking about the whole system We’re a fully remote team, but an overlap of working hours with PST is required, and for this role, proximity and willingness to travel to Seattle or SF is a plus. We offer health, dental, and vision insurance. If you’re the kind of engineer who believes the social web should be open and that users should control their experience, join us. The world is changing and there is no map. The Expedition team ventures into the unknown.
