Role Description The Access Services Representative 1 gets accurate demographics and insurance information. This helps register patients, verify insurance benefits, and collect patient financial responsibilities. - Conducts and documents patient interviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insurance verification, precertification, and billing. - Registers patients at multiple locations and works in different department areas. - Knows the patient flow processes in each area. - Identifies process improvement opportunities that promote team concepts with co-workers. - Improves revenue cycle functions and the patient experience. - Interacts regularly with other areas and departments to provide information on patient delays and schedule changes. - Verifies patient eligibility for insurance coverage and benefit levels for services. - Calculates and collects patient dues according to financial policies. - Establishes patient liability and advises on deposit requirements. - Negotiates payment arrangements with the patient as needed. - May be responsible for cashiering duties following established policies and procedures. - Assists patients to nursing units by providing directions, personal escort, and medical mobility assistance (e.g., wheelchairs), when applicable. - Adhere to compliance with order validations, cash policy, government payor, and patient safety requirements for proper patient identification. - Appropriately escalates potential service issues to management when necessary. Qualifications - EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent - EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience Requirements - Requires good listening and communication skills, and professional telephone etiquette. - Maintain a professional demeanor in a stressful and emotional environment. - Must show high empathy and communicate well with patients and families during trauma. - Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. - Demonstrates ability to manage multiple, changing priorities in an effective and organized manner. - Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigational skills. - Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office. Role Description The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Telemedicine is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider, recognized by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice. An APP in telemedicine provides outpatient care for various conditions through virtual means. Essential Functions of the Role - Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories. - Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs. - Prescribes or recommends medical drug therapies or other treatments. Performs procedures following approved policies, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost. Recommends interventions to change behavior linked to health risks. - Formulates and implements comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments. Uses evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and guidelines. Collaborates with physicians and team members when appropriate. Evaluates patient's response to health care and effectiveness of care. - Counsels patients and families about medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies. - Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Provides consultation services for conditions related to the Provider's specialty and training. - Performs invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider's level of proficiency as delegated by supervising Physician. - May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs of the department. Qualifications - EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program - EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience - CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS), Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements - Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas. - Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer. - National Nurse Practitioner certification in area of specialty for intended patient population.
