Role Description The Testing Evaluator position is a remote, on demand, part-time position. The Testing Evaluator assists with testing for language proficiency examinations, interacting with the examinee in the evaluator's native language. Support for proficiency tests may be provided via telephone, video conferencing, or another technology-based medium (recorded audio etc.), depending on the needs of the test. The tests will be evaluated according to given scoring criteria; therefore, paid training is conducted before starting the job. Testing evaluators must be able to accept and use the required scoring procedure and maintain consistent and reliable scoring throughout their employment. They must also be willing to operate in a repetitive task situation and maintain confidentiality. Responsibilities - Perform the test in a professional manner - Follow the process to perform the tasks - Adhere to the guidelines to score the tests - Enter the data on the testing platform in a timely manner - Provide comments and concerns to the testing department - Perform pilot tests - Create and review test items - Perform other similar duties requested by the Operations and Development Testing department Qualifications - Strong oral and written communication skills in the target language (target language appears in job title) - Excellent interpersonal skills - Accuracy and attention to detail - Technical communication - Professionalism - Organization - Must have email access with the capability to send and receive attached files, and must be able to navigate the Internet - Computer literacy Requirements - Language: Candidates must possess native fluency in the target language (target language appears in job title) - Degree: College Degree - Computer Knowledge: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel - Language: A minimum English proficiency level of a 2+/2+ on the ILR proficiency scale - Experience: Any combination of training and experience which provides required knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of the position Benefits - Part-time employees are not eligible for ALTA-sponsored benefits Location Remote Additional Information All Testing Evaluators must be based in the U.S. Unfortunately, we are not able to hire in all 50 US States. Role Description ALTA Language Services seeks a talented individual to join our Testing Department as a contractor to review test content in Western Armenian. The linguist will be expected to deliver accurate, high-quality documentation within a specific deadline and timeline. Training regarding the specifics of the development will be provided. For the right candidate, there is an additional opportunity to work with our Testing Operations team to score tests on a regular basis. Responsibilities - Review and revise speaking and listening test content in Western Armenian, as per development specifications provided by ALTA Project Managers. - Report to Project Managers about the progress of the work. Qualifications - Native speaker of the given target language as specified in the position title. - Excellent reading comprehension skills in the target language. - Excellent writing skills in the target language and in English. - Advanced communication skills in English. - Ability and desire to work collaboratively. - Ability to meet deadlines. - Professionalism. - Computer literacy. - Research skills. Requirements - Degree: College degree or equivalent experience. A degree in linguistics, translation, or similar is a plus. - Computer Knowledge: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to communicate in English is essential, as it will be the language used in communication with the project team. Experience - Previous experience in test development or review is preferred. - Previous experience using a language proficiency scale (e.g., ILR or CEFR) is preferred. - Experience using the target language in a professional capacity (writing, teaching, translation, interpretation, etc.) is required.
