• Your job is to build Alpaca's algo trading platform to meet our users' expectations for high quality and performance in their brokerage service. • This opportunity is similar to joining AWS or Heroku in their early days, designing and architecting our platform by wearing many different hats in our small team. • As an experienced engineer, you will write tons of code and make critical decisions about delivering the best experience to our customers. • This certainly requires deep knowledge in both frontend and backend, databases and distributed systems, as well as broad experience from low to high level in CPU-level hardware for high throughput, robust concurrency system design, abstract distributed system architecture for high availability and object-oriented data modelling with long-term growth in mind. • Joining an early-stage startup, the payoff to this highly demanding environment will be worth the effort.

• Own one core accounts sub-surface end-to-end (KYC / identity verification, account types, sub-accounts / multi-accounts, or IRA cross-work) - drive prioritization, API design, and rollout inside your surface. • Run discovery with partners and prospects against real integration constraints, translate findings into a sequenced backlog for your surface, and push back on requests that don’t fit the platform without over-promising. • Ship to production at the cadence of a high-growth platform - write clear PRDs, align with engineering on API contracts, and produce documentation partners can implement against. • Partner with compliance and legal on product decisions that touch licensing, KYC / AML, identity verification, and account-model design - comfortable shipping in parallel with them in a regulated environment. • Improve operational efficiency in your surface - exception handling, partner-facing tooling, automation of repetitive ops - and own the metrics. • Track adoption beyond GA - onboarding funnel health, API adoption, time-to-first-funded-account, verification pass rates, partner-reported blockers - and iterate on docs, SDK ergonomics, and rollout sequencing until your surface is actually being adopted. • Report timely and accurately on product status and results to internal and external stakeholders, including partners.

• Own Tax Reporting End-to-End: Drive the product roadmap for IRS reporting (1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1042-S) and state-level requirements. Define timelines, acceptance criteria, and quality gates that ensure on-time, accurate filings year after year. • Vendor Management: Own relationships with tax technology vendors, and manage ongoing performance. • Meet Critical Tax Deadlines: Build the cross-functional calendar for tax season, track dependencies across Engineering, Operations, and Compliance, and ensure zero missed deadlines. • Scale for New Products: Extend tax infrastructure to support new asset classes (fixed income, crypto staking rewards), new account types (IRAs, advisory), and multi-entity structures. Proactively identify gaps before they become blockers. • Upstream Data Government: Ensure that tax operations scale reliably by partnering with core engineering teams to ensure upstream data ingestion is architected correctly from day one. • Data Architecture: Ensure foundational database infrastructure correctly captures and saves diverse income types, entity codes, and account rules (IRAs, HSAs) before they hit the tax systems. • Internal Monitoring: Design and launch internal monitoring tools and health dashboards that provide real-time visibility into filing statuses, error rates, and corrections cycles

• Operate production day-to-day - oncall, incident response, postmortems, and the follow-ups that actually close the loop. • Own reliability practice - define and refine SLIs/SLOs and error budgets, and help product teams live within them. • Strengthen our observability across metrics, logs, traces, and alerting. • Ship infrastructure through code in a GitOps workflow - cloud resources and Kubernetes workloads alike. • Look after PostgreSQL: performance tuning, schema and migration review, online migrations on large tables, HA/DR, and CDC pipelines. • Mentor engineers on reliability and database fundamentals through code review, design review, and pairing.

• Act as primary contact for B2B/enterprise customers, accountable for driving healthy and constant relationships with key contacts throughout the customer lifecycle - from app launch to renewal. • Ensure customer satisfaction, retention, and success. • Manage escalations, internally and externally, with a focus on customer empathy. • Maintain regular contact with customers to understand their business priorities, monitor their progress toward achieving key results, and continually identify and mitigate risks (relationship, commercial, etc.). • Work with partners to accurately forecast growth and to identify and monitor progress towards shared goals. • Drive adoption of Alpaca features (new and existing) among our Live Partners. • Identify and disseminate best practices and pitfalls. • Represent the partner internally to ensure Alpaca across multiple groups (marketing, product, operations, etc.). • Maintain positive relationships, internally and externally, to drive overall success and overcome obstacles. • Provide internal communication and reporting on overall account status, health, and risk. • Develop a success strategy for ensuring customer success. • Identify areas and consider solutions for improvement/optimization within Alpaca. • Ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned. • Deliver QBRs and executive reports that align customer goals to platform outcomes. • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers’ leadership teams, aligning Alpaca capabilities to their go-to-market strategy. • Own the full customer lifecycle post-signature: onboarding, activation, expansion, and renewal. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and our Broker Dealer to leverage process understanding to champion partner needs and influence roadmap priorities.

• Own one core money-movement or settlement sub-surface end-to-end (a funding rail, a settlement workflow, or an ancillary product) - drive prioritization, API design, and rollout inside your surface. • Run discovery with partners and prospects against real integration constraints, translate findings into a sequenced backlog for your surface, and push back on requests that don’t fit the platform without over-promising. • Ship to production at the cadence of a high-growth platform - write clear PRDs, align with engineering on API contracts, and produce documentation partners can implement against. • Partner with compliance, treasury, and legal on product decisions that touch licensing, AML, screening, settlement rules, and reconciliation - comfortable shipping in parallel with them in a regulated environment. • Improve operational efficiency in your surface - exception handling, reconciliation workflows, partner-facing tooling, automation of repetitive ops - and own the metrics. • Track adoption beyond GA - settlement success rate, time-to-funding, ACH return rate, partner-reported blockers - and iterate on docs, SDK ergonomics, and rollout sequencing until your surface is actually being adopted. • Report timely and accurately on product status and results to internal and external stakeholders, including partners.

• Own the product vision, roadmap, and success metrics for the entire money-movement and settlements area - settlements (JIT, instant funding, post-trade, prefunding), funding rails (US and non-US ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, regional rails), and ancillary products (HY Cash, FPSL). • Personally execute across multiple in-flight lanes in parallel - not just sequencing them from above, but shipping work yourself on the most strategically important ones. • Rationalize how we expose money-movement and settlement APIs and internal systems - including where a single settlement surface must flex for different partner operating models, geographies, and funding flows. • Drive build-vs-buy, partner-vs-direct, and onshore-vs-offshore tradeoffs across the area; re-sequence the roadmap under real constraints (regulator deadlines, partner asks, eng capacity). • Partner deeply with engineering, broker-dealer operations, treasury, compliance, legal, partnerships, success, and sales to prioritize initiatives that balance regulatory risk, operational load, revenue impact, and time-to-market. • Lead discovery with partners and prospects - understand blocking requirements, translate needs into sequenced roadmaps, push back on asks that don’t fit the platform, and communicate honest timelines and scope. • Shape pricing and packaging inputs where money-movement and settlement products imply different operational handling - working with commercial and treasury stakeholders so what we sell matches what we can deliver and support at scale. • Support global expansion of money-movement capabilities as Alpaca grows its regional broker-dealer footprint - including regional payment rails, FX corridors, and jurisdiction-specific rules (US / non-US). • Define and monitor adoption across the area - settlement success rate, time-to-funding, ACH return rate, instant-funding utilization, partner-reported blockers, operational throughput; willing to sunset or rework features that don’t drive adoption rather than calling them done at launch. • Raise the standard of work shipped across the money-movement and settlements area - mentor peer PMs, set quality bar, unblock adjacent teams.
