Our medically-tailored grocery card – Fresh Connect – has been providing access to fresh produce for communities since 2020 and we are embarking on an exciting new phase of growth and innovation in 2026.   We are working for a future where everyone has equitable access to the food they need to be healthy, happy, hopeful, and connected to culture, community, and loved ones.  The Opportunity  About Fresh is seeking a Senior Director of Development to serve as a strategic partner to our CEO and a driving force behind our fundraising growth. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned development professional who is energized by mission-driven work at the intersection of health equity, nutrition access, and social determinants of health.  The Senior Director will own and advance our national fundraising strategy, with a primary focus on major gifts and foundation relations. You will bring an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong existing network of funder relationships, and the organizational discipline to build and manage a robust pipeline — with a goal of raising at least $2 million in your first year and growing to an overall annual $6 million fundraising goal.  This role is fully remote within the United States, with travel expected 4–6 times per year for funder meetings, conferences, and organizational convenings.    What You'll Do  Fundraising Strategy & Execution  - Partner closely with the CEO to develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with organizational growth goals  - Build and manage a diversified portfolio of major donors and institutional funders (foundations, health systems, government) to meet and exceed an annual $6M revenue target  - Lead the full cycle of major gifts and grants fundraising — from prospect identification and cultivation through solicitation and stewardship, including developing grant proposals and applications  - Drive the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and funder communications  Relationship Management  - Cultivate and steward a strong network of existing funder contacts while proactively identifying and building new relationships  - Serve as a compelling external ambassador for About Fresh's mission, representing the organization at national conferences, funder convenings, and partner events  - Support and coach the CEO in funder engagement, including preparing briefings, talking points, and meeting follow-up  Operations & Leadership  - Manage development systems, pipelines, and reporting using HubSpot CRM  - Establish and monitor key fundraising metrics, producing regular progress reports for the CEO and board  - Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, program, product, and finance teams to align fundraising with organizational priorities

In lieu of this specific experience, demonstrated accounting experience and a ready-to-learn attitude will be considered.   The incumbent will support the Controller and Executive Leadership Team by managing daily accounting tasks, conducting reconciliations, tracking and reporting on fund balances and claim reimbursements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with financial reporting.   General Bookkeeping & Accounting  - Maintain the general ledger and support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.  - Record and reconcile all revenue streams, including grants, contracts, donations, program fees, and claims reimbursements.  - Process accounts payable and accounts receivable; ensure proper documentation associated with all accounts payable and accounts receivable.  - Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.  - Reconcile bank, credit card, and investment accounts on a monthly basis.  - Assist with preparation of annual audit and Form 990.  - Support budgeting and financial forecasting processes under the direction of the Controller.  Claims-Based Revenue & Billing Cycle  - Work closely with our claims and billing service provider  - Track and record payments received on submitted claims (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare, insurance, or government reimbursement programs), ensuring timely and accurate posting.  - Monitor claims aging reports; follow up on outstanding, denied, or underpaid claims in coordination with billing or program staff.  - Maintain clear documentation of the claims revenue cycle, including submissions, approvals, denials, appeals, and final payments.  - Support compliance with payer billing requirements.  - Assist with rate reconciliations and retroactive adjustments as required by payer contracts or government programs.  Grant & Fund Accounting  - Maintain accurate fund accounting records to ensure proper allocation of expenses and revenues across restricted and unrestricted funds.  - Prepare grant-specific financial reports in accordance with funder requirements and deadlines.  - Monitor grant budgets; collaborate with Development staff to ensure budgets are adequately accounted for.  Payroll & HR Support  - Reconcile records for employee compensation, benefits, PTO accruals, and related liabilities.  - Prepare and distribute 1099s and other required tax documents to vendors and contractors, as needed.
