Role Description As our General Counsel, you'll serve as the company's key legal authority, advising leaders, resolving disputes, directing claims, overseeing licensing and permitting, crafting contracts, mitigating risk, handling regulatory matters, conducting investigations, managing insurance relationships, shaping policy, and ensuring company-wide compliance. This is a full-time remote position. To ensure alignment with business hours, applicants must be located in the Eastern Time Zone (ET) or Central Time Zone (CT) within the United States, with up to 25% travel by plane or car as needed. The Team: Upstart’s capital markets legal team is at the forefront of creating innovative deal structures that drive our business forward. As the Lead Counsel, Capital Markets at Upstart, you will work with counterparties across Upstart including members of the product, operations, compliance, accounting, tax, treasury and finance teams. You will work on bilateral deals, small club deals, broadly syndicated deals and everything in between. Role Description We are seeking a strategic and scientifically fluent Patent Counsel with deep expertise in chemistry to shape and lead the intellectual property strategy behind our chemistry platform and therapeutic programs. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is $261,800 to $337,700 (USD).
