• Develop long-term technical vision for the team • Design technical strategy to develop components, frameworks and libraries to create seamless applications for our customers • Hands-on development of scalable components and applications • Mentor engineers including senior and junior engineers on their team • Improve and uphold standards for engineering and operational excellence • Create and encourage comprehensive documentation for code, libraries, and components to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team

• Collaboratively refine and evangelize a comprehensive framework for integrating data-thinking into the software development lifecycle. • Design, architect, and maintain core operations datasets, data marts, and feature stores. • Integrate deeply with cross functional partners to understand their data needs. • Drive data quality and best practices across different business areas. • Help build the next generation data products at Thumbtack, leveraging AI models for code generation.

• Own the how, not just the what: apply strong product sense to set direction, shape standards, and elevate execution. • Build and maintain Jane's customer data infrastructure end-to-end. • Work directly with marketing, paid media, analytics, marketing operations, BI, and product as primary stakeholders. • Drive tooling strategy for Jane's collection layer. • Establish instrumentation standards within engineering, product, and marketing. • Take ownership of identity resolution and attribution at the collection layer. • Navigate the realities of consent-gated instrumentation.

• Coach and mentor a caseload of learners through 1:1 sessions and workshops • Teach practical data engineering concepts in a way that’s clear, relevant, and grounded in real‑world experience • Help learners design and build reliable, scalable, secure data solutions - not just working code • Guide learners through assessments and portfolios with high standards and supportive feedback • Model strong professional judgement around performance, cost, security, privacy, and ethics
