• Innovate new solutions that will form the foundation of secure, adaptable, and fast distributed systems. • Work with the business-development team to define research areas of interest and define interesting research proposal topics. • Compose research proposals and report progress to research sponsors. • Execute and lead research contracts to push our technology forward. • Serve as Principal Investigator and/or Staff Member on externally-funded research contracts. • Actively interface with research project sponsors, customers, research partners, and prospects. • Develop expertise in emerging technology and share your insights across RTI. • Communicate technical innovations through papers and presentations. • Support the transition of promising technical innovations to product including customer trials, coordinating with product management, and working closely with the engineering team to design, develop, test and support this transition.

• As a Research Scientist, you will be a key contributor to Dexcom’s R&D Engineering Team. • You will be working with the latest cloud computing platforms and AI technologies to establish an ambitious research program supporting our mission, positioning Dexcom as an industry leader in health AI applications. • You help identify long-term research goals as well as intermediate milestones for AI models and applications. • You execute research that pushes forward the state of the art in AI domains such as predictive health outcomes, large language models (LLMs), and Generative AI. • You directly contribute to experiments training AI models, including experimental design, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and preparing results for broader circulation. • You publish research in top tier conferences and journals in the diabetes, health sensing, and technology communities. • You prioritize research that can support Dexcom’s product development and data strategy. • You implement new models, tools, and processes used by Dexcom’s core data products team, supporting commercial data product development. • You coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams – including stakeholders from R&D, Commercial, Product, Legal, and Regulatory – to ensure that our research program is aligned with company strategy and meets the highest safety standards. • You contribute to the evaluation and improvement of the safety of our models and systems, identifying areas of risk and proposing mitigation strategies.

• Conduct in-depth research into Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI. • Identify gaps, limitations, and opportunities in existing research and technologies. • Stay up to date with the latest research papers, models, architectures, and techniques. • Explore and evaluate new approaches that could improve our ML capabilities. • Analyze existing research and determine how it can be applied to real-world products. • Work closely with ML engineers and researchers to turn research ideas into practical solutions. • Propose new ideas, experiments, and directions for the ML team. • Design and conduct experiments to validate research hypotheses. • Review and benchmark existing methods and models. • Communicate research findings and technical recommendations clearly to the broader ML team. • Help shape the technical and research roadmap by identifying promising areas for exploration. • Contribute to building novel ML solutions rather than simply implementing established methods.

• Design and implement AI systems capable of handling complex workflows • Explore and apply various orchestration patterns and architectures • Lead systematic experimentation across prompts, agents, model variants, and tool configurations • Define and implement evaluation strategies for agentic systems • Develop lightweight benchmarks, simulations, and offline/online evaluation loops • Finetune and adapt small and medium-sized foundation models • Own bounded, end-to-end AI workflows from problem framing through deployment • Act as the subject matter expert in strategic domains within the team.
