Role Description This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Compensation Data Analyst to join our team in our Seattle, Portland, Anchorage, San Francisco, or Los Angeles offices. This position offers the flexibility to be fully remote while working within reasonable commuting distance from any of our offices. This position is responsible for supporting the management of the attorney compensation programs for a 500+ attorney, private practice law firm. On a typical day you will: - Provide ongoing data and analysis support to the Attorney Compensation Manager - Be responsible for data provision for the annual Associate Compensation process, the Counsel Compensation process, and the SHARE process - Provide routine analyses including monthly hours statistics and quarterly/annual processes for special committees (REC, ISC, CEC etc.) - Manage ongoing document management and tracking as it relates to attorney contracts, incentives, special bonuses, and attorney transitions - Work closely with Payroll staff to ensure the timely and accurate processing of all attorney payments - Create and maintain contract partner payment schedule - Track hiring, departure, and other status change information for attorneys and patent agents - Provide data support for lateral analyses and pay equity review as needed - Maintain Attorney Compensation SharePoint including updating structure and filing of all documents (lateral analyses, offer letters, ad hoc analyses, individual contracts, etc.) - Maintain and update team-built tools (lateral analysis tool, partner compensation cadence calculators, etc.) - Update budget hours and administer year-end budget hours solicitation process - Update credit allocations and administer year-end credit allocation process - Provide ad hoc credit allocation reporting - Track PTE tax opt-in process - Assist with internal and external survey data provision - Participate in team quality assurance activities Qualifications - 2+ years in analyst/comp role, required - Must perform well under pressure and execute assignments with minimal direction - Advanced skill level of standard MS Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required - Knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, and SQL applications preferred - Ability to understand and interpret financial and performance data, required - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a high attention to detail and ability to work under and meet reporting deadlines - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of a professional services organization, including interpersonal skills, required - Previous experience in a law-firm or professional services organization, supporting a multi-office environment, strongly preferred - BA/BS required. The position exists to expand the Data Team's capacity to serve business stakeholders, from brand managers to executives, while giving the intern hands-on experience with a modern data stack (BigQuery, Rill, Tableau) and real-world applications of AI in analytics. - Perform ad hoc data analyses and data pulls in response to requests from brand teams, territory managers, finance, and other business stakeholders, delivering clear, accurate summaries of findings. - Write and validate SQL queries against the company data warehouse (BigQuery) to support reporting, analysis, and data quality checks. - Assist with maintenance and quality assurance of dashboards and reports across the BI stack (Rill, Tableau, Looker), including validating metrics against source-of-truth definitions. - Support data governance and enablement efforts, including documenting metric definitions, data sources, and analytical workflows for internal reference. - Contribute to the development and testing of AI-assisted analytics workflows and automation, helping quantify time savings and improve team efficiency. - Assist with intake, triage, and fulfillment of data requests submitted through the team's ticketing system (Jira), ensuring timely follow-up and clear communication with requesters. - Perform data cleaning, organization, and audit tasks to maintain the accuracy and integrity of key datasets. - Prepare summary workbooks, presentations, and other shareable deliverables for internal stakeholders, including executive audiences.
