Quest Defense Systems & Solutions is seeking Embedded Software Engineers to build the foundational software components that enable next-generation avionics systems. This team is responsible for developing shared libraries, I/O frameworks, and partitioned services that power multiple avionics applications. This role is ideal for a systems-minded engineer with deep low-level experience who can design robust, certifiable software architectures. This effort will be in support of multiple key programs, including the Next Gen Flight Management System (FMS) program. Due to the nature of this role, all candidates must be US Citizens OR US Persons. Preference is onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. Will consider remote candidates meeting all requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Abstract and consolidate core functions into reusable libraries and frameworks - Extract existing functionality from application code and refactor for shared use - Design and implement an I/O framework supporting multiple protocols and data interfaces - Define and maintain data dictionaries and I/O level specifications - Collaborate with system architects to ensure ARINC-653 partitioning integrity - Support certification activities through HLR/LLR documentation and DAL compliance - Contribute to long-term strategy for scalable, maintainable software infrastructure Qualifications - 4+ years of experience in embedded software development and/or testing. - Proven expertise in C++ and object-oriented design for embedded systems - Working knowledge of I/O architecture, protocol handling, and data management - Background in developing certifiable software (DO-178 DAL A preferred) - Proficiency in HLR/LLR generation, review, and traceability - Quick learner with strong initiative and drive Requirements - Strong experience with ARINC-653 partitioning and low-level application design - Hands-on experience with VxWorks RTOS - Familiarity with toolchains and CI/CD environments supporting configuration management and verification (Atlassian Suite, Jama, Coverity, Rapita, etc) - Designed and implemented non-volatile data storage systems (e.g., EEPROM, flash, or NVRAM) for configuration or state retention - Experience with persistent and transient log storage, including rollover and data retention policies - Familiarity with log transport mechanisms (e.g., shared memory, I/O channels, or network-based telemetry) - Experience developing or integrating ARINC 661 Cockpit Display Systems (CDS) and User Applications (UA) - Familiarity with avionics data buses and communication protocols (e.g., ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, AFDX, CAN, SPI, UART, etc) - Strategic systems thinker able to plan scalable, reusable frameworks - Previous FMS Experience is a bonus but not required. - Experience in the adoption and/or integration of emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, digital assistants) into day-to-day operations for continuous improvement. • Own the lifecycle of partner integrations—from evaluation through launch and ongoing optimization. • Conduct technical assessments, demos, and validation of partner solutions. • Develop technical business cases and "better together" value propositions. • Partner with Product and Engineering to scope, prioritize, and deliver integrations aligned to customer and partner needs. • Drive continuous improvement through enhancements, new features, and roadmap alignment. • Act as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all alliance integrations. • Enable Sales and Solution Engineering (SE) teams on integration use cases, value, demo execution, and positioning. • Provide hands-on support for strategic deals requiring integration expertise, or transfer knowledge to SEs to support these motions. • Build scalable enablement assets (demo scripts, playbooks, solution briefs). • Work directly with internal and partner technical and product teams to define integration requirements, ensure successful build and deployment, and align on roadmap dependencies and future capabilities. • Enable partner SEs and technical teams to confidently demo and position joint solutions. • Serve as the primary technical liaison for alliance partners. • Develop joint solutions, bundled offerings, and compelling "better together" messaging. • Ensure visibility across partner channels, including partner websites, marketplaces, and solution offerings. • Support and execute joint marketing initiatives such as webinars, events, campaigns, and co-selling programs. • Partner with VARs, Services, and other partners to embed integrations into broader solutions and expand reach and pipeline generation. • Drive integration-led pipeline creation through joint selling motions, partner referrals, and co-sell opportunities. • Represent RegScale at partner and industry events. • Present the technical and business value of integrations to customers and partners. • Anticipate market direction and align RegScale and partner roadmaps ("skate to where the puck is").

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and extremely reliable code across the full stack. • Take responsibility for complex features and product areas from spec through delivery. • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software. • Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to mitigate and address them. • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and growth. • Implement automated testing and CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust releases. • Participate in an on-call rotation with a detail-oriented approach.

• Design and develop cloud-native, AI-integrated microservices and full-stack applications • Integrate AI/ML capabilities into geospatial applications using enterprise AI platforms and LLM APIs • Contribute to autonomous features for data quality validation, spatial analysis, and workflow automation • Build serverless services and RESTful APIs for geospatial data • Apply security guardrails, multi-tenant isolation, and compliance measures to AI-powered features • Adopt AI-assisted software development practices, including AI-augmented code review and intelligent DevOps • Integrate enterprise GIS platforms and spatial data processing capabilities • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure-as-code principles • Participate in code reviews and help establish engineering best practices
