Role Description This is a leadership role for a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to drive all data-related streams for the implementation of Lookout and throughout a customer’s lifetime on the platform. This role leads the strategy and execution of all things data — from legacy data preparation and migration, to ongoing platform data support (bulk updates, process design, diagnostics), to building the internal tooling and process automation that makes the team’s delivery faster and more reliable. You’ll lead a team of data migration specialists, working directly with Lookout’s platform APIs and in-house Python tooling to design robust, scalable data processes. A growing part of this role involves leaning on AI/LLM-assisted development to build and evolve internal tools and automation — from validation engines to workflow automation across systems like Asana. Strong SQL and database fluency is essential for diagnostic and troubleshooting work across customer environments. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Onboarding Specialists, Solutions, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams, acting as the technical authority for all things data and migration. This is a hands-on lead role for someone who thinks like a builder as much as a manager — with a deep understanding of SaaS platform capabilities and APIs, comfort directing AI-assisted tool development, and a track record of delivering reliable, well-architected data processes. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience). - 5+ years in a technical delivery or data-focused role within a software company, with a demonstrated hands-on technical background — not purely project management. - Strong SQL skills for data diagnostics and troubleshooting across customer environments. - Practical experience with Python for tooling and automation, and working directly with platform and REST APIs. - Experience directing or building with AI/LLM-assisted development for internal tooling or process automation. - Proven leadership experience — mentoring a technical team, setting technical direction, and making architecture-level decisions. - Ability to partner effectively with Project Managers without owning day-to-day project management. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including at executive level. Requirements - Lead and mentor a team of data migration specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. - Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and budgets. - Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional growth. - Own process architecture for the team — designing how data migration and ongoing platform support workflows operate end-to-end. - Maintain deep expertise in Lookout’s platform and APIs, and use that expertise to design internal tools that extend platform capability. - Define source-to-target mappings, data transformations, and data quality rules for migration work. - Develop environment and test case strategy to support functional UAT and output testing requirements. - Oversee the data lifecycle, from planning and design of migration and ongoing support work to implementation and post-delivery. - Translate customer business needs into detailed system configuration, data migration requirements, and user acceptance test plans. - Partner with Project Managers on timelines, budgets, and risk management, providing technical direction and escalation support rather than day-to-day PM ownership. - Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, data owners, and IT teams. - Communicate project and process status, risks, and issues clearly to stakeholders. - Lead the design and implementation of process automation initiatives, working with AI/LLM-assisted development to build and iterate on internal tools and migration systems. - Own the roadmap for the team’s in-house Python tooling and API-based migration and support tools, ensuring continuous improvement in efficiency and reliability. - Drive integration of process automation with tools like Asana — for example, automating handoffs between client sign-off, validation, and delivery stages. - Establish and maintain robust data quality controls and monitoring processes across automated workflows. - Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve data quality. - Stay abreast of the latest data migration technologies, agentic/AI tooling, and industry trends. - Explore and implement innovative data migration solutions, such as data virtualisation, data masking, and data replication. - Compliance with The Lookout Way Code of Conduct, policies and procedures. - Agreement that other employment or contract will not be undertaken which may represent a conflict of interest with The Lookout Way’s activities or have a detrimental effect on the performance of the employee. - Efficient and effective utilisation of resources as allocated under the level of responsibility for this position. - Conduct all business transactions in an ethical, friendly, efficient and professional manner. - Provision of quality customer service. - Ensure all corporate information is captured within The Lookout Way’s business systems adhering to record-keeping policies and procedures. - Oversight over information security in the software development process. - Responsible for oversight over policy development related to systems and software under their control. - Response for implementing risk management in the development process aligned to company goals. - Responsible for implementing information security standards and data privacy standards (e.g. SOC2, the Privacy Act, the Aged Care Act) in the development process. - Align all controls and practices with the Information Security Roles and Responsibilities Policy. Benefits - A competitive salary package that reflects your impact and leadership. - Remote-first work from anywhere in Australia, with offices available for face-to-face collaboration. - Annual health and wellbeing allowance. - Generous leave policies that grow with tenure, plus access to Sonder and parental leave benefits. - The opportunity to lead and shape a growing technical function within a fast-scaling SaaS business. - Exposure to modern APIs, AI-powered development, automation platforms, and large-scale data migration projects. - The chance to directly influence how technology supports aged care providers and the communities they serve.
