Role Description Orbital is seeking an Assistant Project Manager with Electric Utility industry experience for a REMOTE WORK opportunity to join our Substation Project Management Team. The role will entail supporting various aspects of project management processes/activities through all stages, from project inception through closeout. Project types primarily include substation projects (greenfield, brownfield rebuilds/expansions, equipment replacements/upgrades, etc.). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Demonstrate ability in daily task planning, strategic task planning, as well as understanding of determining priorities amongst multiple projects. - Willing to ask questions and seek training required to execute and supplement knowledge required to support Senior Project Management Staff and properly execute tasks. - Support Senior Project Management Staff as needed to drive project tasks. - Provide regular updates to Senior Project Management Staff regarding completed, ongoing, and upcoming tasks to ensure efforts between Senior Project Managers and Assistant Project Manager are aligned. - Attend scheduled project meetings to maintain working knowledge of project status and gather information needed to complete required tasks. - Support tasks ranging from monitoring schedule for adherence to managing material orders to completing regular project checklists to tracking project as-builts, and so on. - Contribute to project goals/objectives in a group setting. - Provide input to improve processes/procedures as appropriate to maximize efficiency and performance of the Project Management Team as a cohesive unit. - Learn and use multiple software systems as required. - Up to 10% travel may be required. - Work with team members to ensure complete compliance with all safety procedures. Report safety compliance issues and safety incidents to Orbital supervision. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field - 0-3 Years of Project Management Experience - Experience in Commercial / Industrial T&D or Experience in Management Preferred - Strong written and verbal communication capabilities - Competent in basic computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe) - Competent in scheduling software (P6) and provide schedule updates as required - Organized, self-motivated, coachable, and detail oriented - Able to work well in a group setting and manage simultaneous tasks - Willing to travel as needed; travel and lodging costs are reimbursable - Possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to frequent construction sites - Good understanding of basic financial planning and forecasting - Ability to make good judgment based on facts and data Requirements - This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.
