Senior Software Engineer II
Dutchie
Role Description We’re hiring an Engineer who knows that “good enough" is not good enough. At Dutchie, our customers count on us to tackle the hardest challenges in a fast-changing industry, and we take that responsibility seriously - building quality and shipping fast aren't a tradeoff here, it’s the standard. As a Senior Engineer, you are a technical leader who brings depth and breadth to our agentic-first development team. You don’t just use AI to write code; you leverage it to research unfamiliar territory, architect complex systems, and solve all but the most exceptional problems with little assistance. - Customer-Centric Innovation: Partner closely with Product and Design teams to translate customer pain points into delightful, high-performance product experiences. - Architect and Lead: Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of medium-to-large scale projects with minimal requirements, from initial design and architecture to deployment and iteration. - Strategic Problem Solving: Proactively identify technical debt, surface technical roadmap items, and design high-quality, scalable solutions for our core platforms. - Mentor and Enable: Act as a multiplier for the team by coaching junior engineers through PR reviews, design discussions, and sharing best practices for agentic workflows. - Agentic Mastery: Lead by example in using LLMs and agentic tools to amplify judgment and speed while maintaining a high quality bar for the entire team. - Operational Excellence: Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident responses, using advanced tools for logging, monitoring, and debugging to ensure system reliability. Qualifications - 5+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record of owning and delivering complex features independently. - Expert-level proficiency in at least one modern backend ecosystem, specifically Ruby or .NET/C#. - Deep understanding of how to build high-quality, performant, and scalable distributed systems. - Extensive experience designing and evolving complex data models across relational (SQL Server) and non-relational stores. - A solid, capable engineer who can drive problems to completion with little oversight and knows the right questions to ask. - Advanced experience treating LLMs and agentic tools as core parts of your planning and implementation toolkit. - A desire to refine our engineering culture and processes, ensuring we consistently deliver stable, resilient systems. Requirements - Experience in the cannabis industry or have built enterprise-facing software for POS, Ecommerce, or Payments. - Experience with frontend technologies like React and TypeScript to support full-stack initiatives. - Experience building and monitoring infrastructure on cloud-native providers like AWS. - Successfully introduced AI-assisted workflows or autonomous agents to an engineering organization previously. Benefits - Targeted starting salary of $149,000 - $201,000 based on the intended level for this role. - Full medical benefits including dental and vision plans to ensure you always have the best care. - Equity packages in the form of stock options to all employees. - Technology (hardware, software, reading materials, etc.) allowance. - Flexible vacation and sick days.
