Role Description Join our Embedded Payments team as a DevOps Engineer to make a real impact every day. Reporting into the DevOps Engineering Manager, you'll help us build and scale the infrastructure behind our cloud-native payment orchestration platform that processes significant transaction volume across multiple Xplor brands. You are passionate about building reliable, secure systems and the automation that keeps them running smoothly while maintaining engineering best practices. - Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform, with attention to scalability, cost, and PCI-scoped network segmentation. - Own and evolve the observability stack — SigNoz for distributed tracing and metrics, Grafana for dashboards, structured logging. - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Bitbucket Pipelines, including deployment guardrails, automated rollback strategies, and environment promotion workflows. - Design and run performance and load tests with k6 or other custom tools as needed, establish baseline benchmarks, and partner with engineering to address bottlenecks before they reach production. - Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response for infrastructure issues, and drive postmortems that produce durable fixes. - Define and track SLOs, error budgets, and operational KPIs for payment-critical services. - Improve deployment velocity and safety — faster pipelines, better preview environments, safer migration tooling. - Partner with security and compliance to maintain PCI DSS posture, support audits (Armanino/Vanta), and codify controls. - Manage cost and capacity across AWS — right-sizing, reserved capacity strategy, and identifying optimization opportunities. - Use AI-assisted tools effectively to accelerate infrastructure work without compromising review quality or security posture. Qualifications - 5+ years of professional DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering experience, with a Computer Science/Engineering degree or equivalent. - Strong hands-on AWS experience across compute (ECS, Lambda), networking (VPC, security groups), data (RDS/Aurora), and event-driven services (SQS, EventBridge). - Production Terraform experience — module design, state management, drift handling, and multi-environment patterns. - Experience operating an observability stack in production; familiarity with SigNoz, Grafana, or comparable tools (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus). - Experience designing and running load tests with k6 or comparable tools (JMeter, Gatling, Locust). - Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar). - Strong shell scripting ability or similar in a scripting oriented language (Python, Go, etc.). - Ability to read and understand back end and front end code in order to implement infrastructure more effectively. - Solid understanding of networking fundamentals such as sockets, routing, load balancing, SSL/TLS encryption, tunneling, firewalls/security groups, etc. - Understanding of access control and identity management (IAM, OIDC, Cognito, OAUTH in general or similar). - Comfort leading incident response and writing postmortems that drive systemic improvement. - Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) and an articulate point of view on where they help and where they don't. - Comfortable working on a 100% remote team and operating independently within an agile group. Requirements - Experience operating PCI-compliant or otherwise regulated environments. - Experience with payments infrastructure or other high-availability transactional systems. - Familiarity with Vanta or comparable compliance automation tooling. - Experience tuning PostgreSQL for high-throughput workloads. - Exposure to KMS-based cryptography, secrets management, and key rotation strategies. - Experience with chaos engineering or game-day exercises. Benefits - Paid Parental Leave benefit programs. - #GiveBackDays/Commitment to social impact – 3 extra days off to volunteer and give back to your local community. - Ongoing dedication to Diversity & Inclusion initiatives such as D&I Council, Global Mentorship Program. - Access to free mental health support. - Flexible working arrangements.
