Senior Designer for Sweaters Job Snapshot EMPLOYEE TYPE: Permanent WORKPLACE: Hybrid LOCATION: New York, NY Job Description We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Sweater Designer to lead the design and development for a fashion-forward women’s private label sweater collection. This role is responsible for creating trend-relevant, customer-focused sweater assortments that align with retailer needs, target customers, and price architecture. The ideal candidate brings deep knitwear expertise, a strong eye for trend and detail, and the ability to translate ideas into production-ready contemporary product in a fast-paced private label environment. (Labels are well-known.) - The role is hybrid, in-office 3 days per week in NYC. - The salary range for this role is $135-140,000. Responsibilities: - Lead seasonal sweater design from concept through production handoff. - Research and interpret fashion trends, yarn developments, and knit techniques. - Develop trend boards, color stories, and knit direction tailored to retailer needs. - Design across categories including pullovers, cardigans, sweater dresses, novelty knits, and fashion basics. - Create detailed flat sketches and CADs that clearly communicate stitch patterns, gauge, and construction. - Design product aligned with retailer strategies, target customers, and price points. - Partner with merchandising to build cohesive assortments. - Present concepts and seasonal direction to internal teams and buyers. - Adapt designs based on feedback and evolving business needs. - Work closely with product development and overseas vendors to ensure design feasibility. - Review samples and provide clear comments on stitch execution, fit, and construction. - Participate in fittings and proto reviews. - Ensure designs meet quality, cost, and calendar expectations. - Provide guidance to junior designers or associates as needed. - Contribute to overall knitwear innovation and design direction. - Support a collaborative and solutions-oriented team environment. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field. - 5–8+ years of sweater/knitwear design experience, preferably in women’s private label. - Strong expertise in yarns, stitches, gauges, and knit construction. - High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. - Understanding of private label retail environments. - Ability to design within cost parameters. - Excellent presentation and communication skills. - Strong organization and time management. - Experience working with overseas factories and development timelines. Role Description We are seeking an experienced Roof & Floor Truss Designer to support the design and production of wood truss systems for residential, multifamily, and commercial projects across the United States. The ideal candidate will have direct experience using TrueBuild by Eagle Metal and a strong understanding of U.S. wood-frame construction, truss engineering workflows, and component manufacturing. This role will be responsible for: - Reviewing architectural and structural plans for U.S.-based projects. - Developing roof and floor truss placement plans. - Creating individual truss profiles and production-ready design packages. - Designing and optimizing wood trusses using TrueBuild by Eagle Metal. - Applying project-specific loads, spans, bearing conditions, and structural requirements. - Coordinating truss layouts with walls, beams, mechanical openings, and other building components. - Identifying conflicts, missing information, and constructability concerns. - Preparing designs for engineering review, sealing, and fabrication. - Revising truss packages based on engineer, client, or production feedback. - Maintaining accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable U.S. building codes and industry standards. - Communicating clearly with project managers, engineers, estimators, and production teams. Qualifications - Proven experience designing roof and floor truss systems. - Hands-on experience with TrueBuild by Eagle Metal (mandatory). - Experience working on projects for the U.S. market. - Ability to interpret architectural and structural construction documents. - Experience preparing truss layouts, placement plans, and individual truss profiles. - Strong knowledge of wood-frame construction and truss component manufacturing. - Familiarity with U.S. building codes and truss design standards. - Strong attention to detail and ability to identify design conflicts. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple active projects. - Professional English communication skills. - Availability to collaborate during U.S. business hours.
