Role Description We are seeking a Telecom Network Planning Strategist to support broadband network expansion initiatives through GIS analysis, market intelligence, and business strategy. This role will focus on evaluating growth opportunities, analyzing customer and market data, and developing business cases that drive network investment decisions. This is not a traditional GIS Analyst role. The ideal candidate understands broadband network planning, HFC and fiber infrastructure, subscriber growth opportunities, competitive market dynamics, and how telecommunications providers evaluate expansion opportunities. The primary focus will be identifying where to expand networks based on: - Market potential - Competitive conditions - Capital requirements - Cost per passing - Penetration opportunities - Overall return on investment Key Responsibilities - Evaluate broadband and telecommunications expansion opportunities - Analyze customer, subscriber, competitive, demographic, and GIS datasets - Identify underserved and high-growth markets for HFC and Fiber expansion - Build business cases supporting network investment decisions - Develop strategic recommendations for leadership teams - Evaluate opportunities based on: - ROI - EBITDA - Cost Per Passing - Market Share - Subscriber Opportunity - Competition Penetration - Capital Investment Requirements - Utilize Python and SQL to analyze large datasets and automate reporting - Develop GIS models, maps, visualizations, and dashboards - Present findings and recommendations to executive leadership - Partner with Engineering, Finance, Market Planning, and Strategy teams - Lead projects from concept through execution with minimal oversight - Translate complex data into actionable business decisions Qualifications - 3+ years of experience within the telecommunications, cable, fiber, or broadband industry - Experience supporting network planning, market planning, or network expansion initiatives - Strong understanding of HFC and Fiber network infrastructure - Advanced GIS analysis experience using ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, or similar tools - Strong Python experience for analytics and automation - Strong SQL skills - Experience building business cases and investment recommendations - Experience presenting findings and recommendations to leadership teams - Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills - Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field Preferred Qualifications - Experience working for Comcast, Spectrum, Altice, Cox, Frontier, Mediacom, CableLabs, Verizon, AT&T, or similar providers - Broadband market expansion experience - Fiber deployment planning experience - Network engineering background - Experience evaluating greenfield builds and overbuild opportunities - Knowledge of subscriber growth modeling and competitive analysis Benefits - Medical, dental & vision - Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital - 401(k) Retirement Plan – Pre-tax and Roth post-tax contributions available - Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents) - Short and long-term disability - Health Spending Account (HSA) - Transportation benefits - Employee Assistance Program - Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX.
