Role Description You’ll lead the IT team at a rapidly scaling, high-growth startup — and set the bar for what world-class IT looks like at Pomelo. This role reports to VP of Engineering and can be based anywhere in the continental US. What You'll Do: - Manage, coach and grow our team of IT Support Engineers — hiring, development, and performance. - Stay hands-on: set the technical bar, teach the team, and take the hardest escalations yourself. - Own our core IT systems and roadmap: identity and access, device management, Google Workspace, Slack and the rest of our SaaS stack. - Own IT vendor relationships, procurement and spend — negotiate renewals, cut redundant tooling, keep the stack lean. - Root out manual, repetitive IT work — and automate it away. - Run smooth onboarding and offboarding at scale for a distributed team. - Partner with our Security team on the controls behind our HIPAA compliance and SOC 2 HITRUST certifications. Qualifications - 7+ years in IT support/operations, including 2+ years managing a team — with a track record of building and leveling up high-performing teams. - A player-coach attitude — happy both coaching the team and rolling up your sleeves to show what great looks like. - Strong customer service and communication skills — you set the tone for how the team treats end users, and teams across the company find you easy to work with. - Comfortable working directly with executives and senior leadership, including handling sensitive requests with discretion. - Deep hands-on experience with systems like Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, and Apple fleets managed with MDM tools like Iru (formerly Kandji) or Jamf. Requirements - Startup experience — especially building or scaling an IT function at a fast-growing company. - Experience at a healthcare company, where HIPAA and patient data are part of daily life. - An infosec/security background. - Hands-on SOC 2 or HITRUST experience: implementing controls, gathering audit evidence, or running parts of the certification process. - Experience with compliance automation platforms like Vanta or Drata. Benefits - Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision coverage for employees and their families. - High deductible Health Plans with Health Savings Account (HSA) options. - Flexible Spending Account (FSA). - Equity grant participation. - 401(k) program. - Competitive vacation policy. - 16 weeks paid parental leave. - Fully remote work flexibility (within the US). Compensation The expected base salary range offered for this role is $165,000-$195,000. This role is also eligible for equity, giving you an ownership stake in Pomelo’s mission. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, competencies, and certifications. Potential Fraud Warning Please be cautious of potential recruitment fraud. With the increase of remote work and digital hiring, phishing and job scams are on the rise with malicious actors impersonating real employees and sending fake job offers in an effort to collect personal or financial information. Pomelo Care will never ask you to pay a fee or download software as part of the interview process with our company. Pomelo Care will also never ask for your personal banking or other financial information until after you have signed an offer of employment and completed onboarding paperwork that is provided by our People Operations team. All official communication with Pomelo Care People Operations team will come from domain email addresses ending in @pomelocare.com. If you receive a message that seems suspicious, we encourage you to pause communication and contact us directly at careers@pomelocare.com to confirm its legitimacy.
