Role Description The Tableau Developer (Software Developer 3) designs, develops, and maintains high-performing dashboards, reports, and workflow-driven analytics solutions that support enterprise operations and executive decision-making. Working within a state public safety agency, this role collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, integrate data from multiple sources, and build visualizations that improve process visibility and performance monitoring. The developer performs advanced data analysis, report optimization, and provides ongoing technical support for the agency's business intelligence initiatives. Key Responsibilities - Dashboard Development & Visualization - Design, develop, test, and maintain robust Tableau dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in an enterprise environment. - Develop workflow metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, and performance-monitoring dashboards. - Apply data visualization best practices to optimize dashboard performance, data quality, and user experience. - Data Integration & Engineering - Integrate and validate data from multiple enterprise systems, databases, and relational data warehouses. - Write and optimize SQL queries for efficient data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis. - Troubleshoot and resolve reporting, data synchronization, and data visualization issues to maintain data integrity. - Business Analysis & Documentation - Gather and document business requirements, translating complex user needs into technical reporting and analytics solutions. - Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate operational data into actionable business intelligence. - Create comprehensive technical specifications, user documentation, and provide knowledge transfer to agency personnel. Qualifications - 8 or more years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Tableau dashboards, reports, and data visualizations in an enterprise environment. - 8 or more years of proficiency in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server/Cloud, including dashboard design, data modeling, calculations, and performance optimization. - 8 or more years of experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis. - 8 or more years of experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements and translating them into technical analytics solutions. - 8 or more years of experience integrating and validating data from multiple data sources, including enterprise systems and data warehouses. - 8 or more years of experience applying data visualization best practices, KPI development, and business intelligence reporting standards. - 8 or more years of experience executing data accuracy validations and quality assurance reviews. - 8 or more years of experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a collaborative team environment. Preferred Qualifications - 1 or more years of experience working in regulated or public sector government environments. - 1 or more years of experience supporting workflow analysis, process improvement, and operational reporting.
