Role Description UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is currently hiring a regular full-time Research Specialist - Coverage Analyst, ONC to help support the Oncology Clinical Research Services team located at the Hillman Cancer Center in Shadyside/Pittsburgh, PA. This role will support the Financial Compliance team working Monday through Friday daylight hours with a remote schedule. This position is necessary to build clinical trial budgets and coverage analysis for clinical trials. The Clinical Trial Coverage Analyst is responsible for ensuring the financial compliance and proper coverage of clinical trial procedures. Responsibilities include: - Perform detailed coverage analysis of clinical trial protocols to distinguish billable versus non-billable items and services. - Ensure compliance with Medicare’s Clinical Trial Policy and other payer regulations related to clinical research billing. - Apply the appropriate CDM and/or CPT codes for potentially billable items in the coverage analysis to assist in the management of claims review. - Collaborate with clinical research teams to develop accurate study budgets based on coverage analysis findings. - Identify and document which study costs should be covered by the study sponsor versus the payer. - Communicate findings to clinical research coordinators, investigators, and financial teams. - Synchronize the final coverage analysis with appropriate final study documents. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, payer policies, and clinical trial reimbursement guidelines. - Assist with the resolution of billing discrepancies related to clinical trial services. - Provide training to research staff on coverage analysis and compliant billing practices. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in health-related field. - 3 years of experience in clinical trials; pre-award research administration is a plus. - Knowledge of pre-award approval lifecycle. - Knowledge of clinical research protocol and budgeting. - Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail. - High emotional intelligence, writing, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Clinical Research Professional Certification or related certification is a plus. • Conduct qualification visits (QV), site initiation visits (SIV), monitoring visits (MV) and termination visits (TV) at assigned clinical sites and generate visit/contact reports • Oversee integrity of the study and utilize problem-solving skills to promote rapport with the site and staff • Review the performance of the trial at designated sites, ensure the rights and well-being of human subjects are safeguarded and are in accordance with protocol • Develop patient recruitment strategies in conjunction with the clinical site to meet enrollment timelines while also ensuring compliance with the approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocol/amendment(s), GCP, and the applicable regulatory requirement(s) • Evaluate the quality and integrity of the reported data, site efficacy and drug accountability • Monitor completeness and quality of Regulatory Documentation and perform site document verification

Role Description The Research Assistant oversees data collection, data organization, and/or data management or similar functions/tasks for research study(ies) in support of a PI or a research team. This position will support research activities for an NIH-funded study as well as other research activities primarily focusing on addressing the overdose crisis in Baltimore. The position will require the applicant to be familiar with qualitative and quantitative data analysis, strong technical writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, and meeting strict deadlines. - Run routine and ad hoc reports. - Use standard tools and computer programs to review data. - Assist with data cleaning measures to ensure accuracy of data and preparation of tables. - Lead basic activities such as data collection and data entry. - May lead specific tasks and develop processes to ensure study activities occur effectively and efficiently. - May conduct literature searches to support faculty in research efforts. - May design and format papers/publications. - May assist PIs in writing summaries of papers for release as policy briefs or other channels. - Other duties as assigned. - Supporting development of qualitative and quantitative data collection instruments. - Cleaning and analyzing qualitative data. - Supporting stakeholder engagement activities, including tracking outreach and drafting communications. - Supporting development of systems of management for research activities, including tracking intervention implementation. - Draft technical reports for key stakeholders and assist with literature reviews for grants and manuscripts. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in a related field. - Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
