Principal Landscape Architect

Role Description ICF is seeking a Principal Landscape Architect with a background in ecological restoration/water resources planning and design; parks, trails, and open space design; and business development to join our Pacific Northwest Ecosystem Restoration, Landscape Architecture, and Engineering Practice. You will support the growth and development of our team as a technical leader, mentor to junior staff, and principal contributor to business development activities. Position available in Portland, Oregon or Seattle, WA. The option to work remotely within the PNW will also be considered. This is a flexible hourly position with an initial expectation of up to 4 hours/week, with the option of increasing hours as project work increases. Key Responsibilities - Work with ICF’s cross-regional Ecosystem Restoration, Landscape Architecture, and Engineering Practice members and colleagues from our conservation planning, climate resilience, disaster management, fisheries and aquatic science, and environmental and regulatory compliance teams to develop a business development strategy for the PNW and to develop specific client and teaming partner relationships to capture and win project work. - Lead/contribute to the design of ecological restoration projects. - Lead/contribute to the design of parks, trails, and open space projects. - Provide technical review of construction documents including plans, estimates of probable construction cost, and technical specifications. - Lead/contribute to business development efforts, including developing relationships with potential clients and teaming partners. - Lead/contribute to development of proposals, including scopes of work, schedules, and budgets. - Mentor junior landscape architects, engineers, and restoration designers. - Be a positive, curious, organized, innovative, committed, self-motivated, and supportive addition to our local office environment and regional practice. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture. - 20+ years of experience leading the analysis and design of ecological restoration and landscape architecture projects and leading business development in the PNW. Preferred Skills/Experience - Strong working background in the following areas: river and floodplain restoration; fish passage improvements; wetland and other ecological restoration; parks, trails, and open space design; public and stakeholder outreach and facilitation. - Experience leading technical studies and preparing conceptual and detailed design plans for ecological restoration and parks, trails, and open space projects in Oregon and/or Washington. - Experience leading and working collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams of engineers, ecologists, landscape architects, and other technical experts. - Self-directed and able to work both independently and in interdisciplinary teams to meet client and project needs. - Strong business development acumen and an understanding of the market and an ability to identify and effectively position for and capture new project work for ICF. - Strong written, communication, and computer skills and attention to detail. Pay Range The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is: $107,959.00 - $183,531.00.
