Role Description The Linux and Database Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux‑based systems and enterprise databases across production and non‑production environments. This role includes: - Monitoring server performance and ensuring system availability. - Performing database tuning and maintaining secure, reliable infrastructure operations. - Installing, configuring, and updating Linux systems and database applications. - Troubleshooting issues and analyzing system logs. - Implementing cybersecurity measures such as access control, backup procedures, and recovery strategies. - Configuring servers and databases, designing and maintaining database structures across multiple platforms. - Preserving data integrity and optimizing database access and resource allocation for performance. - Developing and implementing database backup and recovery strategies. - Collaborating with developers, technical managers, and analysts to support new systems and services. - Developing solutions that improve system efficiency. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering plus 4+ years of related experience. - Relevant database administration certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate. - Minimum 3 years as Linux and database administrator. - Strong Linux/Unix skills; Microsoft OS knowledge is a plus. - SQL proficiency including MS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop, or PostgreSQL. - T-SQL and PL/SQL knowledge is a plus. - Linux command-line proficiency. - Shell scripting and automation tools such as Python, Perl, and Bash. - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Requirements - Experience with Linux and Unix‑based systems. - Experience with SQL and major database platforms. - Experience with shell scripting and automation tools. - Background in database administration, system performance tuning, and secure infrastructure management. • Architect and maintain robust SQL database systems that support application environments, ensuring maximum uptime, performance, and scalability • Design and implement fault-tolerant SQL Server solutions using high-availability patterns in on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments • Design and deploy Microsoft SQL PaaS solutions in Microsoft Azure • Provide SQL Server administration for MS SQL Server versions 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and/or 2022, as well as support for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 • Plan and implement database backup strategies and perform recovery in case of disaster • Monitor and maintain database storage, health, performance, sustainability, and security • Manage SQL Server high availability, backups, maintenance jobs, encryption, security controls, etc. • Analyze SQL query plans, suggest optimizations, and support developers in the SDLC process • Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems and software, including clustering environments • Refine and automate SQLDBA team processes using T-SQL and PowerShell • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and schema design, enhancing application performance • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
