Job Description

Accounting & External Reporting Manager

Vera Bradley

• Perform a variety of accounting tasks related to the recording of the company’s financial activity and reporting of that activity. • Partner with corporate accounting team to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policy. • Monitor and record transactions in the general ledger in conformity with GAAP and company policy • Maintain subledger and perform annual audit on fixed assets • Review and prepare monthly account reconciliations • Manage the resolution of discrepancies between GL and subsidiary ledgers accounts • Develop and implement accounting processes to improve controls and efficiencies • Assist management with financial analysis • Prepare current period and recast items for financial reporting. Includes all SEC filing documents • Coordinate with external parties regarding external reporting • Perform quarterly impairment analysis, including preparation of supporting models and documentation • Perform contract review for Finance to assess accounting implications and ensure proper treatment • Prepare monthly financial reporting package • Maintain and prepare comparable sales reporting, including ad hoc requests and support for planning activities led by FP&A • Manage lease accounting process including: Review and validation of all retail, storage, and other lease activity • Final review of lease population for completeness and accuracy • Preparation of supporting schedules for lease-related disclosures • Manage monthly bonus accrual process, including calculation support, review of inputs, and coordination with FP&A/Finance during close • Manage stock-based compensation accounting, including: Accounting for equity grants and vesting activity • Review and reconciliation of stock compensation expense • Oversight of grant and vesting data • Oversight contributions • Develop and oversee two individual contributors • Review month end accounting entries • Oversee and review the lease process, including supporting the annual operating lease planning process • Oversee and review the roll-forward of SEC documents

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 7-10 years general accounting experience
  • Experience with SAP or FAS preferred
  • Active CPA license preferred
  • Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information
  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with internal and external customers and handle situations with confidence, tact and resourcefulness

Role Description The Accounting Coordinator compiles data, computes fees and charges and prepares invoices for billing purposes, aiding in the collection of revenues, supporting the goals of a billing center of <$50k per month and of CorVel.
