Legal Translator and Editor
GLOBAL LANGUAGE STRATEGIES
Role Description Global Language Strategies, a woman-owned small business headquartered in the Washington DC metropolitan region, is currently seeking professional freelance translators, editors, and transcribers to translate, edit and/or transcribe legal documents between English and Bengali. - Provide accurate translation and/or editing of documents and/or transcription of audio files involving law enforcement and legal subject matter from Bengali to/from English. - Edit audio transcriptions that include slang and idioms. - Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong command of legal terminology in both English and the target language. - Excellent written communication skills in English and the target foreign language, with Advanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign target language, as assessed by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale. - Translate and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards. - Use domain-specific terminology. - Review and certify the quality of other translators’ work, as needed. - Highly proficient in MS Office, with the ability to mirror source document format in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Familiar with the use of CAT tools, such as Trados Studio. - Abide by a code of ethics when performing transcription and translation work. Qualifications - Holds active U.S. Public Trust or higher security clearance, or is willing to undergo a U.S. government background check to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Moderate Level. - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. - At least 3 years of experience in translating and/or editing between English and a foreign language. - At least 3 years of experience performing audio transcription with the ability to use software to enhance sound and equipment to aid in transcription. - Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the target foreign language(s). - Proficient in Microsoft Office. - Translators and editors must proficiently use CAT tools, such as SDL Trados. Preferred Qualifications - Bilingual with a law degree, paralegal certificate, or documented legal translation or transcription experience. - Bilingual experience with editing audio transcription documents. - Active Public Trust or higher security clearance. - ATA, NAJIT or other relevant professional certification. Role Description As we prepare for our first commercial launch, we are seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel, Advertising, Promotion & Market Access (Senior Director level) to serve as the legal partner to Commercial and Market Access teams, providing strategic and day-to-day legal support for advertising, promotional, and access-related activities. This role balances hands-on execution with strategic guidance, enabling compliant and effective brand initiatives. The position will be an essential part of the cross-functional team preparing to launch the first classic psychedelic and will partner closely with Marketing, Medical, Regulatory, and Market Access colleagues to deliver practical and risk-based legal advice in a fast-paced launch environment. This is a hands-on role for an experienced in-house attorney who enjoys ownership, cross-functional partnership, and operating in a fast-moving, scaling organization.
