Solutions Estimator
Convergint
• Designs and documents installed solutions with moderate complexity according to project requirements • Carries out in-depth analysis of plans, functional specifications and site visits to determine and advise on overall project requirements • Prepares estimates and quotes for each project utilizing estimation software tool • Assists with customer requests for information including the completion of RFIs and RFPs • Proactively communicates with colleagues, vendors, consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) • Understands requirements and collaborates with the sales team to articulate the value proposition of CTC products and services to customers • Provides input, review and coordination of the preparation of shop drawings and wiring diagrams, based on project plans and specifications for completeness • Advises Sales Professional and Project Manager regarding products needed for installation
Job Requirements
- College degree, trade school or equivalent experience
- Minimum Experience: 1-3 years sales engineering, estimating or equivalent
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to take initiative of engaging in proactive behaviors and opportunities of improvement
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Key Responsibilities - Prepare detailed cost estimates for all construction works outside factory production, including site preparation, earthworks, geotechnical works, slabs, and service connections. - Estimate costs across multiple trades including plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling, mechanical, landscaping, and fit-outs. - Source and compare pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and material vendors. - Prepare transport and logistics cost estimates, including deliveries to regional and remote locations. - Develop accurate turnkey project pricing by combining factory production and external construction costs. - Use construction cost databases such as Cordell's Cost Guide (or equivalent) to benchmark pricing. - Apply ABS indices and cost escalation methods to maintain accurate project pricing. - Manage estimating workflows using WonderBuild and maintain estimating models in Excel. - Prepare pricing submissions and support tender documentation. - Work closely with the Commercial Lead and Technical Director to ensure estimates align with project requirements and budgets. Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience. - Strong understanding of residential construction, building terminology, and full project costing. - Experience preparing end-to-end estimates across multiple construction trades, not limited to a single discipline. - Experience with multi-dwelling residential developments (30+ homes is highly desirable). - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and macro-driven templates. - Experience using Cordell's Cost Guide or similar construction cost reference tools. - Knowledge of ABS cost indices and cost escalation principles. - Experience sourcing subcontractor and supplier pricing across multiple trades. - Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently.
