Title: Clinical Coordinator – PA Faculty - part-time Location: Hybrid - Oakland Part time Job Description: Job Description Summary: Join Samuel Merritt University as a Clinical Coordinator and Physician Assistant Faculty member, where you'll play a pivotal role in preparing the next generation of Physician Assistants. This hybrid position combines 60% clinical education administration with 40% teaching, scholarship, and service, offering the opportunity to shape both the clinical and academic experiences of PA students. Working closely with the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education, you will develop and maintain high-quality clinical rotation partnerships, support student success throughout the clinical year, and ensure compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards. As a faculty member, you will teach, mentor, advise, and evaluate students while contributing to curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Clinical Coordinator - Assist Director of Clinical Education in the placement of students to meet supervised clinical experience requirements. - Helps maintain current relationships and find new rotation placements for students. - Performs on site clinical visits to ensure site is meeting compliance and to identify other potential placements. - Manage assigned students throughout clinical year, including required documentation, surveys, patient encounter logs, requested time off and attendance. - Communicate with preceptors remotely and in person requirements for support and compliance. - Supports contracts, preceptor eligibility, scheduling, EXXAT placement, student onboarding, and other logistics of rotations. - Supports rotation assessments, including examinations, preceptor surveys, student surveys, student evaluation of PA faculty (ACC/DCE) with support of ACC and Admin Asst. - Supports clinical year exams and reporting, including PACKRAT, End of Rotation, End of Curriculum exams. - Supports accreditation requirements related to clinical year, including SCPE clinical site list and ARC-PA portal updates, clinical assessment of learning outcomes, preceptor licensure and board certification. - Participate in clinical orientation during Pre-Clinical Preparation. - Helps to prepare and run End of Rotation in person call back days. - Maintain collaborative external relationships to facilitate valuable clinical experiences and community relationships. - PA Faculty - Provide classroom instruction preparing and presenting relevant, current course content as instructor of record and guest lectures in other courses as needed. - Developing, reviewing and revising as necessary the mission statement, goals and competencies of the program. - Participate in student recruitment, admission, and selection process. - Evaluating student performance. - Participate in curriculum committee, provide input to faculty in designing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating the curriculum. - Performing student advisement and academic counseling. - Participate with student remediation activities as required. - Support Program with data collection, analysis, and determination of actions for evaluation in the Program. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Faculty need to be available on site for students and events as necessary. - Compose, edit and continually review information for the PA Student Handbook. - Review educational literature and learning media to keep abreast of new teaching/learning strategies. - Help develop, implement and modify as necessary academic calendars for didactic students. - Help participate orientation program of incoming class. - Help coordinate, prepare, and administer preclinical summative examination, final summative examination, and OSCE examinations. - Effective budget management. - Help to monitor program academic integrity. - Help with student job placement and alumni relations. - Participates in various community and civic activities. - Participate in scholarly activity. Minimum Qualifications - Minimum of a Master's degree. - 2 years clinical experience or in teaching in an academic setting. - Excellent interpersonal skills. - Ability to utilize statistical software and apply analytics. - Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem solving skills. - Proficient written and verbal language skills. - Competent in working with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications - Nationally certified, state licensed physician assistant. - 2 years experience in teaching in an academic setting. - Actively practices medicine. - Expertise in clinical rotation curriculum. - Doctoral degree in health care related field. Office Location: Oakland Campus – Hybrid - This is a hybrid position based in Oakland, CA, requiring a combination of on-campus and remote work, with in-office attendance determined by operational needs, meetings, events, and team collaboration requirements. - Work is performed in both campus and remote settings, requiring the ability to effectively collaborate, communicate, and maintain productivity across multiple work environments and multidisciplinary teams. Mental/Physical Requirements: - This position will be performed in an office setting. The Sr. CRA will participate in the planning, development, and execution of clinical trials to evaluate the safety, effectiveness, and performance of medical devices.
