Title:Compositing Artist Location: Montreal QC CA Job Description: As a Compositing Artist, you will play a crucial role in bringing our animated worlds to life. The compositing artist is responsible for integrating 3D rendered assets, special effects, and other elements to create the final polished shots for our animated feature. This includes ensuring visual consistency, maintaining artistic intent, and resolving technical challenges to produce high-quality imagery. What you’ll be doing: - - Combine multiple layers of animation, visual effects, lighting passes, and background elements into a cohesive image. - Balance color, light, and depth to ensure visual consistency across shots and sequences. - Address technical issues such as edge inconsistencies, motion blur, and artifact cleanup. - Collaborate with departments like lighting, effects, and rendering to troubleshoot and resolve shot-specific challenges. - Use compositing software to add depth, atmosphere, and enhancements such as lens flares, color grading, and motion blur. - Apply creative adjustments to ensure the director’s vision is achieved in every shot. - Work closely with the Compositing Supervisor, and other team members to align on the creative direction and technical standards. - Provide feedback to upstream departments (e.g., modeling, lighting, FX) to improve workflow efficiency. - Organize and manage all compositing assets, including file naming conventions and ensuring proper archiving. - Maintain high standards for file organization and version control. What you’ll bring: - - 5+ years experience as a Compositing Artist in the animation industry, ideally on fully animated or hybrid features. - Proficiency in industry-standard 3D software (e.g., Maya, Houdini). - Proficiency using Katana including working with templates in a pipeline. - Strong understanding of colour theory, composition, and cinematography principles. - Strong knowledge of shading languages (e.g., RenderMan, Arnold). - Familiarity with compositing software (e.g., Nuke). - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
