Freelance Surfacing / Look Development Artist

Glitch Productions

• Create textures for characters, props and environments. • Develop materials and shaders for Unreal Engine. • Perform look development to match the project's visual style. • Optimise assets for real-time rendering. • Collaborate with modelling and lighting teams. • Apply revisions based on artistic direction. • Deliver organised production-ready files.

Job Requirements

  • Strong texturing skills using Substance Painter or equivalent software
  • Proven experience performing look development for characters, props and environments
  • Organized and speedy UV skills to improve asset quality and efficiency
  • Strong understanding of materials, shaders and surfacing workflows within Unreal Engine 5
  • Experience creating high-quality, production-ready textures and materials that align with an established visual style
  • Ability to efficiently organise and manage surfacing assets while maintaining consistency across a production
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively, incorporating creative and technical feedback
  • Bonus Skills: Modelling Skills and understanding of geometry
  • Experience creating Unreal Engine Blueprints.
  • Proficiency in Maya or Blender.
  • Experience working on stylised animated productions or games.
  • UE Blueprinting Character groom for game engines knowledge.
