Job Description

Senior Software Engineer

Propelus

• Own the React Native companion app from architecture through app-store release, instrumentation, and the iteration that follows launch. • Work side by side with the web application team to build out new features for both web and mobile. • Ship full-stack features across accessible React UIs, type-safe APIs, and a GraphQL layer over several data stores, from first design to production. • Weigh architectural trade-offs and explain them clearly to both technical and non-technical people, so engineering decisions stay tied to business goals. • Stay accountable for what you ship. That includes instrumentation, handling incidents, and the analysis afterward. • Make the team better through careful code reviews, mentoring, and sharing what you know. • Improve how we deliver software: our testing frameworks, our CI/CD pipelines, and the tooling that gets in everyone's way when it's not right.

Job Requirements

  • You've built and shipped mobile apps to the App Store and Google Play (React Native strongly preferred), and you know what app review, release, and the messy weeks afterward actually take.
  • Deep hands-on full-stack experience with React, Node.js, TypeScript, and modern cloud-native development. You're still the person who writes the hard code.
  • Strong system-design instincts. You think about reliability, scalability, how things fail, and what a codebase feels like to maintain years later, and you build with that in mind.
  • Real production experience with AWS, modern CI/CD, observability, and running the systems you build.
  • Comfort tuning data access across relational, NoSQL, and search systems.
  • A track record of setting technical direction and mentoring engineers on a collaborative, asynchronous, distributed team.
  • Good judgment about when to pay down technical debt and when to keep shipping.
  • Experience building accessible web applications (WCAG 2.1 AA).

Benefits

  • Professional development allowance to help you grow in the ways that mean the most to you.
  • Flexibility for balancing work with the rest of life and ample PTO, including paid time off for volunteering, your birthday, and becoming a new parent.
  • 401K with company matching, as well as financial planning education and resources.
  • Employees can choose from HSA, FSA, and traditional insurance options for medical, dental, and vision coverage for themselves and dependents.
  • Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA): We support personal well-being by offering an annual lifestyle spending account that you can use for what matters most to you—whether it’s a gym membership, a meditation app, WFH equipment, or fresh produce delivered to your door.
  • Your health is our top priority! We cover 100% of your health insurance premiums. Our plans include national and international coverage, so you're protected no matter where you are.
  • Propelus Flex Club: Our flexible benefits platform gives you monthly points to redeem on what you need most. Plus, you'll get access to exclusive discounts just for being part of our team.
  • We've got you covered with a life insurance policy, paid 100% by the company. You can also add your beneficiaries at an exclusive, discounted rate.
