Software Engineer II, Backend – Test Infra
Affirm
• Own, improve, and maintain integration and E2E test automation frameworks, along with their associated CI pipelines • Design and implement technical solutions to optimize test execution time and enhance test stability • Write technical specifications and ADRs, contribute to technical solution design, and collaborate with engineers across the company • Support engineering teams by assisting with triage requests and sharing best practices for quality assurance and test automation • Contribute to the evolution of the company’s overall test strategy • With the support of your team’s tech lead and manager, you will break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work • This role includes participation in an on-call rotation
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in test automation
- Proficient in both TypeScript and Python
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and Pytest
- Experience in building and optimizing CI pipelines
- Experience with Docker and AWS
- Strong background in quality assurance, test design, and in-depth knowledge of testing techniques and methodologies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in asynchronous communication methods such as tech specs, RFCs, wikis, and project plans
- Experience in building or enhancing test automation frameworks and infrastructure is highly desirable
- Mobile, infrastructure and performance test automation experience will be considered a significant advantage
- Eager to grow and continuously learn new skills
- You have mastered taking a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and executing on it by writing clear, easily understood, well tested and extensible code
- Your experience demonstrates that you take ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from your team, your manager, and your stakeholders
- This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
