Job Summary The Network Engineer 3, Design & Architecture works for and under the general direction of the Sr. Manager, Network Engineering. Primary responsibilities include the design of custom enterprise network solutions for our customers, documenting, troubleshooting, installing, implementing and administering network systems, and providing Tier IV Help Desk escalation support. Analyzes capacity issues and develops capacity planning models. Responsible for ensuring planned maintenance and testing activities are executed and for developing guidelines for network configuration and security standards. Role will be virtually based with the ideal candidate residing in Illinois. Anticipated annual travel up to 15%. Job Description Responsibilities: - Designs and implements custom network solutions for existing and potential customers under limited supervision. Follows best-practice industry standards to provide a network design which is functional, scalable and secure. - Supports the Solutions Architect group to design, document and implement customer pilots and provide support for customer testing as required while in the pilot phase of the sales process. - Provides network engineering support to Sales and Architecture organizations as required. - Supports Tier IV escalation to Help Desk. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves customer network issues. When applicable, recommends changes to remediate any network deficiencies to enhance network performance. - Researches, evaluates and provides recommendations for new hardware and software solutions, to stay current with new technology and market trends and future requirements. - Creates technical presentations as needed, presenting to various audiences (both internal and external) with all levels of technical knowledge. - Develops, documents and maintains processes and procedures related to design, implementation, maintenance and operations of various complex customer networks. - Follows and enforces documented processes and procedures to meet established compliance requirements. - Analyzes customer bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies as required. Develops capacity planning models to meet customer's future needs. - Ability to participate in rotating "on-call" schedule to provide support for our business and customers. - Must be able to travel up to 15% annually as required. - Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary. - This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: - 5+ years of experience in network design, implementation, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex networks. - B.A. or B.S. Degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university or commensurate experience. - CCNP, JNCIP, FNCSP(NSE4), CCVP, CCSP Certification or equivalent on-the-job experience. - Strong working knowledge of various Vendor routers, switches, firewalls and wireless devices to include the following vendors; Aruba, Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Juniper and Cradlepoint. - Strong understanding of networking technologies to include: - Knowledge and experience in SDWAN technologies - MPLS, Frame-Relay, PPP, ISDN, T1 - High Availability protocols such as; HSRP, VRRP, GLBP - IP Routing protocols to include; RIPv1, RIPv2, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, Policy Routing - Tunneling protocols to include; GRE, IPSec, DMVPN, IWAN - QOS, Traffic Policing and Shaping - ACLs, AAA, TACACS+, RADIUS, SNMP, DHCP - Switch VLANs, VTP, STP - VoIP, SIP and PRI trunking - Wireless Networking - AI and Network automation experience using various scripting/coding languages a plus - Understanding of VoIP, SIP and PRI voice technologies, Cisco WebEx a plus. - Understanding of various network tools to include Zabbix, Grafana, SolarWinds NCM, Cisco CCE, Cisco Prime, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, Wireshark or Netscout. - Understanding of various compliance requirements, to include, but not limited to, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC a plus. - Organized individual with the ability to manage multiple projects or tasks. - Strong technical documentation skills, to include creating network diagrams, operations and maintenance procedures, and technical presentations. - Strong verbal skills, to include technical presentations to all levels of technical expertise.
