Senior Operations Analyst - Model Coordination

Southwest Power Pool

Role Description The Senior Operations Analyst independently develops and maintains processes, procedures and controls to be utilized by real-time Operations personnel in their performance of SPP operational functions. These processes, procedures and controls are necessary to facilitate job performance in compliance with all applicable governing criteria, standards, tariffs, protocols, business practices and regulations and to ensure a high level of reliable electric service. Analysts perform assignments independently based on overall Operations objectives, training and tool requirements, market and reliability concepts, project management, policy matters and quality assurance processes and metrics. The role is expected to work closely with analysts and/or Engineers of the Operations Reliability, Engineering and Market Administration teams in jointly defining and implementing requirements for the tool suite as an integrated whole. Core Responsibilities - Exhibit a high level understanding of key Operations systems, including power system and associated transmission system issues and concerns. - Exhibit a high level of familiarity with the most relevant Operations tools. - Acquire proficiency with necessary tools related to complex Operational processes and be able to support junior analysts in this area of development. - Ensure accurate documentation and implementation of requested model changes. - Manage complex operational processes where delegation of assignments may be required. - Develop metrics for analyzing performance of Operations processes/procedures. - Demonstrate full understanding of content and concepts of industry governing documents. - Identify, independently, links between governing documents and Operations processes/procedures. - Utilize stakeholder relationships essential to develop Operations solutions and facilitate the project management process. - Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and external organizations to answer questions and resolve issues. - Ensure compliance with all control activities subject to SOC-1 audit. - Analyze, report and suggest methods to mitigate results identified in analysis. - Apply advanced teamwork and resource delegation skills to support and facilitate Operations processes in a team environment. Able to support the analytical coordination of stakeholder-driven processes. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business discipline; Two (2) years of relevant job-related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement. - 6 years of industry experience. Preferred Qualifications - Experience in the electric utility industry, database management systems, data analysis and ad hoc report writing. - Experience with advanced decision-making in a multi-client environment. - Advanced degree in related field of study. Other Requirements - Ability to handle most types of assignments or tasks independently, regardless of complexity or difficulty. - Broad knowledge or experience in field. - Ability to coach junior analysts in some assignments or tasks. - Strong inter-personal, oral and written communication skills. - Good organizational skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Project Management concepts and tools. - Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures. Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work hours may vary based on organizational and operational needs, as determined by management. Occasional extended or nonstandard hours may be required. Travel This position requires minimal travel (approximately 0-15%).
