Job Description

East Coast Editor

Bisnow

We’re seeking a sharp, creative and obsessively curious Senior Editor to help lead Bisnow’s flagship daily newsletter, read by tens of thousands across the commercial real estate industry. This role is equal parts newsletter architect, data sleuth and trend forecaster. Help set the tone and direction for our most visible product — shaping daily news coverage, uncovering rising markets and asset classes, and delivering sharp analysis rooted in proprietary and outside-the-box data. Contribute original writing and strategic editorial vision to the newsletter, including a regular in-depth column that anchors the edition with voice, insight and edge. Manage and edit three beat reporters focused on hyperlocal high-impact CRE news and enterprise reporting in their own cities. Steer the daily rhythm and elevate the team's work with exclusive charts, smart curation of research and deeper dives into what’s shaping CRE today — and what’s coming next. Key Responsibilities Serve as an editor and content driver for The First Draft, Bisnow’s top-performing daily newsletter. Write an “anchor” column (500+ words) at least twice a month that provides deep analysis or editorial voice — using original insights, interviews or overlooked data trends. Edit ~14 stories a week across three East Coast-based reporters, ranging from breaking news to enterprise investigations. Source and integrate exclusive data and proprietary charts into the newsletter, with a target of at least two per week. Curate and contextualize research and data from beyond CRE (e.g. logistics trends, consumption habits, global economic shifts) to give readers an edge. Identify and spotlight fast-rising CRE markets, property types and sectors — aiming for at least one in-depth spotlight or “rising opportunity” package per month.

Job Requirements

  • At least 7 years of journalism experience, with 2 years in a management or assigning editor role.
  • Strong working knowledge of CRE and related sectors.
  • Proven experience writing or editing under tight deadlines — ideally in a newsletter or daily news environment.
  • Background or training in data journalism strongly preferred.
  • Ability to find surprising insights in overlooked sources and explain them clearly to a business audience.
  • A great headline writer and structural editor with a clean, engaging writing style.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation structure!
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance - effective the 1st of the month following your start date.
  • Short and Long Term Disability Insurance - includes maternity and paternity leaves as well.
  • 401K
  • Flexible Spending Account
  • Health Savings Account
  • Dependent Care Account
  • Unlimited Vacation Days
  • 7 days paid sick leave
  • 9 paid Holidays
  • Referral Bonus Program
  • Pet Friendly Offices
  • Work with incredibly smart, passionate, driven, ambitious, kind, caring and mindful people.
