Senior FIS Systematics COBOL Mainframe Support Developer

As a Senior FIS Systematics COBOL Mainframe Support Developer, you will take ownership of critical legacy financial systems, providing expert-level support and development for our client's FIS Systematics platform. You'll tackle complex technical challenges, optimize system performance, and ensure the reliability of mission-critical mainframe applications. This role demands deep expertise in COBOL, mainframe architecture, and financial systems—and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on core banking operations. Own FIS Systematics COBOL applications, modules, and customizations. Identify performance bottlenecks, implement optimizations, and ensure reliability across the legacy mainframe environment. Lead investigations into system issues using deep technical expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2. Provide expert support during critical incidents and system outages. Design, develop, and implement complex COBOL code and system enhancements that ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of financial systems. Contribute to the design and strategic direction of mainframe architecture. Collaborate with senior management and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives. Oversee planning and implementation of updates, patches, and upgrades to FIS Systematics. Ensure seamless integration with other IT systems and smooth release processes. Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation. Share knowledge and best practices with the team to drive continuous improvement. Work closely with infrastructure, database, business analysts, and project management teams to deliver integrated solutions. Translate evolving business requirements into technical implementations.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Mainframe COBOL
  • 10+ years of experience with IBM Mainframe JCL
  • 10+ years of experience with IBM Mainframe Tools (Sort, IDCAMS, ADRDSSU)
  • 5-10 years of experience with FIS Systematics
  • 5+ years of experience with EZTrieve
  • 5+ years of experience with ChangeMan
  • 3-5 years of experience with CICS
  • Expert-level proficiency in COBOL programming and mainframe systems
  • In-depth knowledge of mainframe environments (IBM z/OS), DB2, and VSAM
  • Proficiency in debugging, performance tuning, and optimizing mainframe applications
  • Experience with batch processing and online transaction processing (OLTP)
  • Strong understanding of banking and financial services systems
  • Proven track record of resolving critical system issues and improving system performance
  • 5+ years of Excel experience for reporting and data analysis
  • Experience with additional legacy financial systems
  • Familiarity with system modernization initiatives
