MindMap Youth Navigator
Marymead CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn
Role Description The MindMap Youth Portal is an ACT first initiative, which aims to support children, young people (0-25 years) and their carers seeking mental health support and services. The Youth Portal acts as an online triage and links users directly to information, support and service providers within the ACT. As the Youth Navigator, you will be responsible for direct service delivery through the Youth Portal. You will: - Respond to enquiries via phone, email, text and webchat. - Help children, young people, stakeholders, parents/carers, services, and professionals navigate the mental health system in the ACT by providing information and referral pathways. - Work during operational hours of 11am to 10pm, 7 days a week and 12-8pm on public holidays. - Work with minimal supervision, using online communication to support and collaborate within a small team. - Sourcing and creating appropriate mental health and wellbeing content. - Review existing content on the Portal. - Promote MindMap through networking events and expos. - Work collaboratively with other team members. Qualifications - Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or equivalent. - Experience working with young people in a support or mentoring capacity. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with youth and their families. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external stakeholders. - A commitment to promoting the well-being and development of young people. - Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as required. Requirements - Experience in working with young people and/or families. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organisational and time management skills. - Ability to respond appropriately to clients presenting with complex Mental Health needs. - Hold a current drivers’ license, a current Working with Vulnerable People card and be willing to undergo a police check. - Competent in the use of Information Technology. - Must reside in ACT or surrounds.
