Role Description This position provides implementation, administration, support, monitoring, and maintenance of the SQL Database environments across multiple cloud environments. The candidate will be joining the Cloud Database Engineering team, being responsible for timely resolution of issues that impact database server usability, making sure systems are sized, built, and configured for optimal operation. - Provide administration and support for mission-critical and pre-production database environments. - Design and implementation of Azure cloud databases, high-availability solutions, replication, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions. - Migration of on-premises database to the Azure Cloud using SQL on VM, SQL MI, and Azure SQL Database. - Perform and manage daily database maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning tasks. - Provide technical leadership through example, develop innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices. - Responsible for database disaster recovery of all database environments, including managing and supporting SQL backup policies. - Identify and document performance and scaling improvements for development teams. - Assist in the design and implementation of security, auditing, and integrity controls. - Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the SQL transactional replication infrastructure. - Provide guidance to Jr level DBAs. - Provide 24x7 On-Call administration and support. Qualifications - At least 8+ years of recent experience maintaining and administrating mission-critical database environments. - Large enterprise production environments with high transaction volume. - SQL Server 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2025. - Cloud database solutions including SQL on VM, SQL managed instance, Azure SQL Database. - NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB and CosmosDB. - Data streaming and caching technologies such as Kafka and Redis. - PowerShell and Azure CLI. - Automation of processes to improve efficiency. - Database triaging, tuning, and monitoring. - Database design and application development life cycle. - Expert in troubleshooting, problem solving, and initiative. - Excellent planning, time management, and documentation skills. - Expert in T-SQL, SQL Profiler, and PowerShell skills. - Expert in SQL monitoring tools SQL Sentry and DBA Dash. - Experience in managing Human Capital Management SaaS database systems. - Easily adapts to changing priorities. - Effective communication with distributed team members. - Works well individually and within a team. - Ability to conduct research into database issues and products and present ideas in a business-appropriate and user-friendly language.
