Role Description USA TODAY is looking for an Audience Strategist, Shopping to lead audience planning and distribution strategy for commerce content. This role serves as the architect of how shopping content is promoted and surfaced—ensuring the right content reaches the right audience at the right time across platforms. The strategist plays a critical role in aligning editorial, audience, and revenue priorities to drive performance. This role reports to the Editorial Director, Shopping. The ideal candidate has strong news judgment, a sharp understanding of audience behavior, and experience using data to inform strategy and real-time decision-making. They are highly collaborative, organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. - Create and manage audience and promotion plans tied to commerce priorities, including shopping tentpoles, seasonal moments, partnerships, book launches, and USA TODAY Store campaigns - Own distribution strategy across platforms, including site placement, newsletters, social, search, and emerging channels - Use real-time and historical performance data to adjust strategy and optimize content reach, engagement, and revenue - Work closely with editors, reporters, and commerce teams to align content planning with audience opportunities and high-intent moments - Identify opportunities to amplify, resurface, or extend the lifecycle of high-performing commerce content - Partner with newsroom and audience teams across the network to scale distribution and sharing of commerce content - Coordinate execution across teams, ensuring clarity in priorities, timing, and promotion strategy - Lead post-campaign analysis and translate results into actionable insights and repeatable playbooks Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in audience strategy, newsroom planning, SEO, growth, or digital media - Strong understanding of how content performs across platforms, including search, social, newsletters, and on-site experience - Experience using AI and automation tools to inform audience strategy, optimize distribution, and identify growth opportunities across platforms - Experience using analytics tools to inform decisions and optimize performance - Demonstrated ability to make fast, data-informed decisions in a deadline-driven environment - Excellent news judgment and understanding of timing, relevance, and audience intent - Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams - Familiarity with commerce, affiliate, or revenue-driven content strategies is a plus How To Apply We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role.
